I'm using an Abit NF7-S 2.0 (nForce2/MCP-T/Realtek 650) with a Logitech 5.1 speaker set (correctly wired using analog connections). I'm using the latest (4.60) audio drivers and the mixer app (451) from the NF4 driver set. The mixer is set up for 5.1 speakers (no DD Live) and pure rear channel encoding (no cloning or delay). Windows (XP Pro SP2 with latest hotfixes) is also set up for 5.1 speakers. I've also tried the hidden "ignore Windows speaker setup" option.
Unfortunately EAX doesn't seem to work correctly with these drivers. EAX options are available in the games that I've tried (EverQuest II, DX Invisible War, World of Warcraft among others) but only the front left and right speakers are giving me any sound.
Out of curiosity I've installed the Realtek 3.67 drivers and EAX seems to work fine with them (dialog out of the center speaker, environmental stuff from the rears). But I'd rather not use these drivers because of the awful mixer app and less hardware channels.
Is there some trick to getting EAX to work with the NVidia drivers? I've tried an older version of the EAX Unifier "driver" (more of a wrapper I guess) but it didn't do anything at all so I uninstalled it.
I tried a clean install of XP in case of old driver remnants but that didn't fix it. Interestingly enough, I'm getting surround sound in RightMark 3D Audio, but it won't work in any games.
