I have just finished building my latest rig, P4(560), abit aa8, corsair (ddr2)5300, and a x800xt(pci-e), everything powers up but no display on my monitor, everything is running, the memory activity lights work without the graphic card, but dont light up with it in. processor is installed correctly, direct contact with heatsink.
The graphics card is powered through the bus (fan spins without molex) plugged molex in but with no luck, Im guessing graphics card is dead, any ideas?
 
check that card in a different system if you can. or try a different pci-e card on that system.
i had a similar problem with my 9700 pro. it would not work in my nforce3 board, but would work fine on a via board. never did get it to work, after bios flashes, etc. so i sold it (the card did work fine in other systems) and bought a 6800gt.
 
unfortunatly i dont know anyone round here with a pci-e card or a old pci card(small town), im figuring it has to be the G-card as every works fine without it(e.g memory activity lights power up). But as soon as you add the G-card then the activity lights dont power on.

Without another vid card your troubleshooting options are very limited, and you're just guessing. Got the little 4-pin power cable plugged into the mobo? That'll keep things from working and leave your screen blank. I guess since it is a new rig you have a huge power supply. Some of these new cards are big power hungry pigs. If you trying to get by with on old 250 watt, it aint helping matters.

Clear CMOS. Try again. Call ABIT.
