So I just build a brand new rig and I am not getting any display on my Dell 2007FP which has a DVI-D Dual Link female plug. The cable I am using is DVI-D Single Link on both ends, and the GTX280 has a DVI-I Dual Link plug. The cable does work as it is the same cable I was using on my previous machine. Do I need a different cable? This is not something I'm well versed in.

hmmmmm, if you want I can take a look at your card to see if it's working all right.

i'll PM you with details.

Is the card lighting and spinning up?

I was able to hear things in Windows opening with audio, and (to my knowledge) PCs won't go past POST with no video, so I'm assuming yes. Unfortunately I'm at work right now and can't double check, but I'm reasonably sure that it is.

Usually using a single link cable means your resolution is limited to 1920x1200, as the Gateway 30-inch in my store was doing, then shutting off entirely.

Do you get ANY feed at all? As in, during boot? BIOS?

I'd look at your cable first, and switch the connectors on the card to make sure you've got the cable plugged into the dual-link connector on the card.

Nope, I get no feed whatsoever. I tried both connectors on the card with the cable and neither worked. The resolution I was using (at last boot of this HD) was 1600x1200.

I had a very similar issue with an HD4850. No DVI or VGA output, but I would hear Windows startup sounds.

Do you have a DVI-VGA adapter and a monitor with a VGA connection? I would try that next...
