Seen the new Voodoo F-50? NICE!
This is actually something I thought of about 8 months ago(shoulda called voodoo, might have made a killing selling the rights). This sucka is completely SILENT...NO FANS. the cpu, etc, even the psu is fanless. the whole setup uses heatpipes to channel the temps to the case/heatsink. This thing screams, and doesnt miss a beat.
Spec: athlon 64 3400+,asus k8v, 1gb corsair twinx pc3200, audigy 2zs, radeon 9800xt ($4000.)
it gave 6149 -3d mark03
21024 -3d mark 2001se
46778 - aquamark
quake3 - 288fps/171 at 4xaa(1280x1024)
ut2003 - 194/110(1280x960)
halo 39fps (1280x960)

:D
I am seriously thinking of a personal loan.....;)

That is pretty cool, but for 4 grand it better do my laundry and wish my dishes too.

interesting.. any more info or pics? wonder how the setup is inside of it

Just buy the Zalman case by itself and put in your own stuff. No need to pay someone to do it :p I think the case itself is around $1200.

The case looks like it would work pretty good. But I don't get the heat-pipe HD coolers they have. All the other parts transfers the heat to the case and can transfer the heat outside the case. But the HD cooler is just a bunch of pipes which will give off the heat to the air around the HD. And since the case has no internal air flow...well, you see where I'm going with this.

Those two cases look really similar to each other...I wonder if they're made by the same company... cheap always equal better in my book, but I don't care about how loud a computer is, unless it's night...and I'm trying to sleep...otherwise, it's cool...

damn......even the psu is wihtout fan. how do they do this? i am wondering, does it have the same thing on the videocard???
and lets say i am playing unreal tourament and the cpu is used 100% where does that heat from the heatsinks go to, i know it goes the case but how? won't the case get hot?? damn i gotta learn the technology of this.

4 grand? For 4 grand I'd pick up a prescott system, with a prommie Mach II on the CPU and a Mach I modded onto the video... Sure, it won't be passively cooled, but it'll run... :p

making a fanless computer is a waste. Low flow fans (@ 5v) and hd silencing + some acustic foam will lower the noise enough for me to sleep with my ear next to it.

it's still kinda cool though... i mean, it's like, HOLY SHIT, IT HAS NO FANS!!!, and then it's like HOLY SHIT, IT'S 4k!!!, and then it's like </cool>.

It weighs 100 pounds it was in my most recent pc gamer (or maybe maximum pc can't remember) . I dont have them with me now to confirm. I remember the 100 pounds though.

it just used the Zalman case with their logo on the front

big fucking deal

id rather just buy a fanless PSU and get a passively cooled video card and use a Zalman CNPS-7000A-AlCu on my CPU set to the lowest setting. Put in some Seagate HDDs and youve got yourself a silent system. Just make sure those fan(s) on your case are Vantec Stealths or Panaflo L1As You save at least $1200 doing this, and don't have to buy if off of Voodoo and don't look like an idiot for buying a $1200 gimmick

yea it is pricy, and you technically do it yourself, but for me... they'd do a much better job of it. As long as they don't put extra shit in my OS that I don't wont ever need; I'm good.

I saw this a few months ago on voodoos site...

well, the case is nice..... but I find the concept a little worthless... my computer is very loud I think... it never really bothers me though, after a while it drowns out. Infact I have three loud computers in this room, almost all of them are always on...

I personally despise voodoo however, and if I ever buy a premade like this it's definately gonn abe from Falcon NW, even then though, I'd probably never actually do that. I find voodoo's logo feces tiring.

The concept is not worthless. In your opinion maybe, but I personally (and other people I know) don't have the noise tolerances you do. I hate the fan noise from my system, and it's not even that loud. (The only fan you can hear is the vantec stealth on my cpu, running at 1500rpm) I don't want to hear my computer. Yeah Voodoo's price is outrageous, but they always are, just like Alienware.

cool. i just priced it out as to what i'd want. and it's a tootally complete system. only a chump change 7 and a half grand. and a low payment of 229 dollars a month!

of course i'm kidding. i'd still take it if somebody was offering.

where does that heat from the heatsinks go to, i know it goes the case but how?
The heat travels thru the heatpipes to the case(which is the heatsink) and the heat is given off to the air outside the case(the room).
I agree its overpriced, but im sure the price'll come down.........the only other thing i'm curious about is the BTX case spec coming soon. Id hate to buy a new system board full of new tech only to find it doesnt fit my new case.

Mind if I ask why? I dont buy from them for dollars-and-cents reasons, but other than that, i think they make well-made systems.

sucks if you dont have a/c in your house. i would imagine that you room would heat up quite a bit with this system running in it.

Um. Yeah. A computer generates the exact same amount of heat regardless of how you get it out of the computer.

well, I don't mean to sound overyl negative about it or anything, it's just I see nothing special about them. Apart from disgusting advertising. "Is is possible.........For a computer....... to have a soul?"
haha sorry, I may just be gas bagging here.... but it's annoying

indeed, running fans would actually ADD an (infinitesimal) amount of heat vs. passive cooling.

Actually, if you have half a dozen fans, they'd add a noticeble amount of heat, depending on how sturdy your system is. Microvibrations and such can lead to heating.

Its funny on the Zalman site for the case.

IT shows a picture of a house fan blowing on the case saying something like "WHen attempting to overclock.. please cool with a fan"

Next computer im going to get is going to be a BTX falcon NW.... im going to get it painted with the American Flag on it. I think its so beautiful. (its going to be the cheepest system i can get)

Then im going to rip the componts out and build a system inside that case.

every watt that goes into the fan leads to heating one way or another...but a 12V, .1A fan which dissapates 1.2 W of heat (after all the vibrational, kinetic, etc. energy gets converted to heat) is NOTHING compared to an overclocked Prescott dissapating upwards of 100W of heat.

you are forgetting that the energy isnt all being turned transfered into heat...quite alot is needed to push that air you know  so i doubt that it is even 0.5 of a watt....

Well, no, not really. But still, if you put a thermometer behind the computer, it might climb a degree or so. :D

Yea, i see what ya mean. Actually, if you think about it, a system made by/for you with your own tweaks/mods, has more 'SOUL" anyway.:D

Not sure if my pc is loud or not. I suppose I could turn down
my music sometime to find out. haha...

Rk

Those benchmarks listed for a $4000 comp are weak as hell...i'm getting very close to that with a $1250 comp built with love at home. Bench's listed in sig....if i bouight better ram and cooling i could easily pass those scores..so it looks like a waste of money.

yeah 1200 dollar computer 4 months ago got better. Its all about the silent. The gimmick is what sells this thing.

Yah i havent done 3dmark 03 but 01se i have hit 21K and for the 1400 i spet on the system, i could easly spend 400 on a liquid cooling/tec system for NB and GPU and then get a mach2 cooling system for proc and do better than that... the extra cooling would only be 1400 bucks or so....... sooooo for 2800 i could murder that 4K system

Most definitely overpriced, but I'd love to see some detail shots of all the heatpipes they use. I can only find one rather low res pic of the cpu heatpipe setup.

thermodynamics...eventually, it ALL goes to heat.

Besides, my point was that even assuming a 100% inefficient fan, the processor is a MUCH bigger heat contributor, by a couple orders of magnitude.

Technically it's not COMPLETELY silent unless it has a solid-state hard drive.

You can hear a hard dive spin!

:p
