Im helping a friend build a new PC, specs are:

Mobo- Asus P5E3 PRO
CPU- Intel C2Q 9400
Vid- Xfired 5770's
RAM 3x2gb GSkill DDR3 1600
PSU- Corsair TX650

i got it assembled, booted it up, went into bios changed boot order and set the Ram speed at 1333, mobo goes up to 1600, ram is 1600...shouldnt have issues....but now i have no boot at all when the system starts....it acts as going normally.

so far ive: Tried with one stick in the 1st ram slot, nothing....

any ideas ? i think this belongs in this area, this is my 1st intel build, always been AMD myself.....

My rule of thumb when building is to start small, get the basics working then add things after you get your OS and all loaded. Are you trying to boot to a cd? Is this a previous install? Do you get any errors?

freash build

put down to 1 stick ram, 1 vid card and still get the issue

only fix ive been able to get is turn off, remove vid card, and put back in and it starts again

every time after i get it going it says overclock failed....even when all settings in the AI Tune area are at Auto....on my Asus board that is when it is at stock

Hrm, do you have any other good parts to test with? Not sure what else to try but known good parts at this point..

Sounds like a PSU problem so far, without trying more things besides pulling out a graphics card, still a lot of stuff to eliminate.

the problem went away as soon as windows was installed .... i think the bios was auto overclocking the CPU...not sure....after 10 restarts the issue did not occur, when before it had every other time i restarted the computer....the computer passed 30 min prime95(all i had time for), and one or two of the 3dmark vantage tests(again all i had time for), and held a max temp of 77(stock cooler, AS5), on one core, the others were at about 70....measured with CoreTemp.....ill know in a day or so if the problem persists(its a friends computer, and he will be turning it on off regularly....told me he would let me know if it happens again..)

anyhow, thanks for the help guys.
