No boot?

Im running D945GCCR with 512mb ddr and 1.8ghz core 2 duo cpu..

I connected everything but no boot. The power supply comes on, cpu fan comes on, but nothing comes on screen.. I dont hear a beep.. Nothing..

if i remove the memory, i hear beeps.

If i remove CPU, computer wont start at all..

So what could be the problem??

Please list your computer's specs completely and with more detail. Thanks.

If you have both the 20/24 pin main ATX connector plugged in, AND the 4-Pin ATX12V P4 CPU connector plugged in, then the board should boot fine.

You could test the PSU. Jump start it (on the main atx connector, short the green wire with any black wire, using a paperclip), and see if it stays on. If not, then its a faulty PSU. If it works then proceed.

Setup everything outside of the case, with the mobo on top of its cardboard box. Plug in only the essentials:
- PSU (namely: main 20/24-pin ATX connector and 4-pin ATX12V P4 CPU Connector)
- CPU w/ HSF
- Single stick of ram
- Videocard if there is no onboard video
- Monitor
- Keyboard
- System speaker/buzzer

* Use a screwdriver if your board doesnt have an onboard power switch. Jump the two power switch leads to turn the power on.

If it won't post, try different RAM slots. If it still won't post, pull out the ram (so no ram in the system) and listen for error beeps. If none, pull the vidcard and listen for error beeps. If none, re-seat the CPU/HSF and try again. Report back with results if you're still having issues.

Thanks for yoru reply..

Ok .. heres my results.

#1 Power supply boots up fine.. The problem is nothing appears on screen and i hear no beeps, but all fans run, etc.

#2. I pull out video card, get error beeps, put back in, no error
#3.. Pull out ram, get error beeps, put back in, no errror
#4. pull out cpu, get error beep, put back in, no error

Took everything apart and put only essentials (RAM,VIDEO,CPU), and still nothing.

I saw a scratch on the side of the top side of the cpu and i have a dangerous suspicion the CPU is bad. If ram, etc, are bad, it should at last post and tell you. But if CPU is bad it wont post correct?

Now i just need to find a way to test if the CPU is bad

dont forget your mainboard it can keep you from posting.is there any way you can get a spare or take to a repair shop to be certain the cpu isnt bad.when you said that you removed the cpu and nothing happened what do you mean?no power to fans and such.
