On Vista, I used this program called Allway Sync 'n' Go to copy my files over to my flash drive. I would plug it on and use the Autorun option that popped up to execute it. However, it seems that Autorun is now dead in Windows 7. Is there another way to get the program to start when I plug in my flash drive?

good thing that is turned off by default, autorun was a trojan best friend

As far as I can see, there isn't an option to include Autorun into the Autoplay settings there

??
just enable Autoplay

I think you guys are confusing Autorun and Autoplay. Below is Autoplay, as it shows up when I plug in my flash drive. However, see that there is no option to execute the Allway Sync program that I keep on the drive? With Vista, I could do that....

it's the same crap! :p
with autoplay enabled, reinstall the program

i hated Autorun. 99% of the time i don't want it enabled so i won't miss it :)

Its really not. Autoplay has been enabled the whole time! And I don't want to install anything. Just run a program off my flash drive.

Check it for official news of Autorun's death:

From the article:
It is worth noting that some smart USB flash drives can pose as a CD/DVD drive instead of standard ones (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U3 for an example). In this specific scenario, the operating system will treat the USB drive as if it is a CD/DVD because the type of the device is determined at the hardware level.

Sync n go is a U3 program......is the drive configured to pretend to be optical media?

I've been using the non-U3 version, because I don't like the overhead. Is there another way to make the drive act like a CD?

Have you clicked the link to view more auto run options to see if you can customize it?

Since you're using a 2gb stick anyway, I'd personally suggest just switching over to Dropbox which gives you 2gb (up to 5gb with 12 referrals) of auto-sync space to any computer you have it installed on, as well as being able to upload or download any of those files from any computer with an internet connection.

Then you won't even have to bother with a USB stick. Of course your situation might be one of the few I can think of off the top of my head where this solution may not be optimal, but I just thought it might solve your problems in a different fashion.

The link above contains no referral link, but if you want an extra 250mb right off the bat, here's mine.

I've looked at Dropbox because I like what they are doing, but having all my files in a single folder would be pretty restrictive. I have stuff all over the place, and it would take forever to drag them to their proper place everytime a make a change on another computer. I still might give it another look though (in which case I will definitely use your referral link!).
