I bought an Audigy 2 in the FS/FT forums, and the disc was cracked when I got it. I've tried about a thousand things - does anyone know how to get this to install like a normal sound card that works with more than 2 speakers?

I have the disc in ISO format and I host a FTP server on the east coast. PM me if you want to download it.

Why do you need the disc to install all the crap on there??? Use the drivers from the website... it wont install yet without the card being installed ALREADY.. SOOOOOO

download winrar... extract the files to a folder .... go to ur hardware manager.. click on the card which should say "Multimedia Controller" or something like that with a YELLOW ? MARK... press update drivers and locate the folder/drivers/wdm until it lets you click on... and VOILA>>>

Someone sent me a copy of their disc, and even that is not working.

thanks for being so helpful ass_plyr

:p You have to admit, your name is really really closw to "aSs_plyr" :p

LMAO, thats funny as hell.

Good comeback too... xxaass :)

Seemed to me like you were talking to me like I'm retarded. And I guess you're right - no one has ever had problems installing a Creative drive before I came along...

I'll try your method and see if it'll work. I wasn't trying to install the drivers before installing the card... not sure where that idea came from...

ty.. IC it was all just a big misunderstanding... but if ya check some of my post.. I do that ;)

uhh... doing it this way is causing a bunch of errors to pop up

NTWriteWordConfig - CONFIG_READWORD

Invalid handler

followed by a blue screen and reboot!

EDIT: (n/m didn't blue screen/reboot this time like it did last time)

the problem with that method is that it limited my download speed to about 2kb/sec and then tells me when i try to download Part 2 that i've exceeded my limit!

I have it installed... kind of... but my rear speakers don't work, and updates and the Audio Console still tell me there is no sound card installed...

WTF??!

How can I convince my computer to believe it was installed like... a normally installed sound card???!

anyone ever successfully install an Audigy 2 without the original installation disc, with full FULL support - making the computer really believe the card is there, such that when I run driver updates, it finds the card? if so, how??

Sounds like you got it working, but you need to upmix the signal for certain outputs. Music for instance is usually a 2.1 signal... it has to be upmixed through the CCMS settings in your EAX console.

There has to be either something wrong with my Windows install or with this sound card.

1) It is definitely OEM
2) It definitely doesn't install the way it's supposed to!
3) The EAX Console will install (if selected manually on the CD), but won't run (causes an error, sometimes blue screen!).

Not me, that's for sure. I've tried the "skip the cd and use the latest drivers from the web site" thing before with my zs plat pro, and always ended up starting with the CD, then running their liveupdate to get the latest stuff.

I've never gotten it to work without the CD.

I figured out what the cause ofthis message was! Apparently, you *MUST* have the auxiliary power connector attached to the Audigy 2 card, otherwise the card does not have enough power for all of its internal functions to be fully powered, and when the driver scans the device, it comes upon a PCI function that is not powered up, hence the unexpected inability to read from PCI config spce. For all of you guys who reported this, make sure you connect the small power connector on the card to your PC's power supply (it's the same power connector used with 3.5" floppy drives. Please post your results here.

Didn't even know AUD2 had external power connectors.

Anyway, back on subject, consider installing the kx Driver package. It's a aftermarket driver made for the Live / Audigy line. I had no problems getting all outputs working on my Audigy with it. The driver has a bit of a steep learning curve, though after you get used to it, it's absolutely awesome. ... Though I do not game on my Audigy 2 PC ...

I don't remember how I got this working back when I originally posted this, but the interesting thing is that as long as I am doing a fresh Windows install, the software update on the website works perfectly. It was just when I already had Windows installed and tried to add the card that I needed the driver CD to convince the system that there really was an Audigy 2 present. And... I never did find an auxiliary power connector.

Hi!
I just did a clean install of xpsp2, and for the very 1st time since I have owned my audigy 2 zs, I have that same nasty error:
NTWriteWordConfig CONFIG_READWORD Invalid Handler.

sethmeisterg: You mentioned that the 'auxiliary power connector' MUST be attached.
I looked and can not find where it would connect.
It does not say anything in the instruction sheet that came with, either.
So I am scratching my head!

MrkXCeL: Exactly which kx Driver package did you download, and from where please?
You forgot to post a URL :)

I have NO audio coming from my speakers at all.
The diagnosis shows everything is a-ok!

If anyone else has any suggestions, PLEASE post????
TIA!!!
