Well like the title says i have no pci slot since it didnt come with my dell :rolleyes: Whats a vid card with 256mb of ram that is PCI. I cant upgrade my mobo either cause i tried to hook my HD into a differ mobo, and it wouldnt boot dell did something :mad: .
So thanks for any suggestions
I was considering either an ATI 9250 or a Nvidia 5200 fx
 
The PCI card you have now is good enough. You won't need an extra 128mb of video memory, especially on a PCI interface.
 
256Mb on a PCI card? I think nothing of the sort exists because PCI has lower transfer rates than AGP and the RAM would not be getting used.

No, there are several 256mb cards on PCI. Why? I have no idea. Newegg has a bunch.
(even a quadro, but its out of stock)
 
I'd work on saving to build a new computer instead of buying a new vidcard.
 
If I read the spec site correctly you have a Celeron? I think upgrading that to a P4 would help the most at this point.

Think anybody would want components out of a dell mem, vid card, proc, etc... I was considering gutting it and selling it.

I have a P4 2.4ghz 512k L2 cache :cool: heatsink came with no fan so i got a cheap amd mounted it we're doing alright
 
I really would advise against buying another PCI video card. If this isn't that really slim Dell (I'm unfamiliar with their models at this point), then you ought to get a new motherboard with the video card memory.
 
Well you guys pushed me over im going to build into a barebones shuttle from newegg amd athlon xp :cool: we'll go from there

I've used a 128meg PCI ATI 9100 and nVidia fx5200. From what I have found, performance is very similar. Supposedly the nVidia fx5200 is the fastest PCI card you can get. I've found that overclocking the video card memory helps performance quite a bit. There was a review out that looked at all PCI video cards a while ago. I'll try to see if I can find it.

P.S. The system I have been using these in is a Celeron 1.3 overclocked to 1729MHz with a gig of RAM, so it is possible that my performance was CPU limited (even though it benchmarks about the same as a 2-2.2GHz P4).
 
Well thank you if you do, will i lose perfomance if i am pushing my psu to hard cause if i oc it then im going to need to mount a pci slot fan below it, i only have 240w :mad:
 
I had an emachines with a 256mb fx 5200 bfg made it. oced nice to. If I were you I would buy a new mobo cheap mobo for around 50 and get an 80 card

I doubt you'll need a bigger power supply. These things only draw from the PCI bus and therefore can't really draw much power.

hey that review was done same day my xbox was made Date: 2003-10-14
anyways so PCI cards are not serious power drainers, cause i have one cpu fan, one case fan, two cd drives, and one hd. Hooking up something below it shouldnt cause huge problems.
