I am so livid right now I can hardly type. I ordered the Evga 6800GT from their site on Friday and paid $40 for next day shipping. Little did I know that it was UPS and they don't deliver on Saturday unless you pay a ton extra. So here it is Tuesday, and I get home and see a notice that they came at 9:45am to deliver it. WTF?!?!? I've never had anyone come that early before. I call them twice and tell them the situation and they tell me they can't do anything about it.

God damnit. UPS can't tell the driver to come after a certain time. They won't leave the package, even if I tell them to. They're making another attempt in the morning and I won't be here due to being at work like people tend to be during the week. I tell them not to come in the morning and UPS said they can't control the time and they won't deliver it on Saturday...

What do they tell me you ask? Well... They say "You will have to schedule a time to pick it up at our distribution center" which isn't at all close to me or anywhere close to my work. So basically I have to pay $40 to have the chance to go pick it up in person. I might as well have gone to EVGA and got it directly.

Bottom line: I WILL NEVER use UPS again, not even to send a turd to the toilet. I have never seen a company as screwed up as they are. They have no concern for customers and it shows with their CSRs. If a company won't ship via FedEx or Airborn, I'll go elsewhere. I also called Evga to see if they could do anything about the signature requirement and they said no. I don't get my card, I don't get my $40 for shipping back. I DO get a hard time and assholes who don't give a shit about their customers.

Sorry for the rant, I had to get this off my chest.

Well that 40 dollars you paid was for early AM delivery i know because i ordered it from EVGA.com as well and got mine at 10:20 am 2 days later (one day for them to process shipping) .. so thats your fault . UPS doesn't ever deliver on Saturday , But Fedex does. Also you ordered it on a Holiday weekend thats not UPS's fault.

Well, I hope when I order it it comes at the times you didn't want it to come. I'm awake at 8am and leave for work at around 11am.
Sucks for you, beat the shit out of whoever is behind the counter when you pick it up if you do.
How long did it take for the card to 'get' to your house from when you got the tracking number? I'm not waiting any longer for a new card and I want it very soon.

I feel your pain. I don't know what happened but it is such a pain in the ass to get a package from them. You used to be able to have the package pulled for pickup the next day. Now they make you do 3 attempts. And when the delivery attempts are done, they never pull the package after u call them.

I only order from vendors who ship fedex so I can pickup my package.

Seriously, you should have known that UPS doesn't delivery Saturday. I won't go as far and say that you need to educate yourself, but you should have gotten the facts.

It may be my fault that I have a job and wasn't here during their deliver time, but I don't recall ever seeing anything about it being an AM delivery. I didn't see any noticable message that insinuated an AM delivery. I wouldn't be so pissed if they'd at least try to work with me but they didn't do nor will do squat about it. They'll make a few more attempts to deliver it, then send it back to Evga. If that happens, I will get a refund for the principle of the matter. Anytime I order something from the Egg or other reputable places, I get next or 2nd day and they always come after 2:30 or so which is fine since I get home at 2:30.

FedEx always delivers the components I buy online. This is the first time for a while UPS has delivered.... or attempted to. I've never EVER had a problem with FedEx. I can call them and request that they leave the package under the back porch if I'm not there.

laff..ups noob

That's why I have my mother-in-law or someone here when I know a package is coming on a certain day if I can't be there myself. I bet if UPS just left the package at the house of someone else and charged your card, you'd be up in arms about it. They're only doing it to protect you and your credit. If you don't like it, too bad, prepare better.

I placed the order Friday morning, and they sent it out Friday afternoon. I got the tracking number late Friday night and it said "July 6th" for the delivery date. I was pissed, but was ok with it since it was the holidays. I could swear I've seen UPS trucks out on Saturday before, but since I rarely get packages from UPS, I didn't know. FedEx will deliver on Saturday, known from past experiences.

I typically read over the shipment details to make sure I know what's going on, but I just don't recall anything about them not delivering on Saturday nor that it's a pain in the absolute ass to get the package when you're at work.

The ONLY way I can get it is to work from home tomorrow or take a vacation day. The vacation day I would use would make the card cost me about $770 and it's not even an Ultra.

I didn't know one had to prepare or educate themselves in the art of home package delivery.

I hardly see how it's NV fault (or really anyone elses) that you weren't there to get the package. I've had UPS deliever packages around that time making sure that someone else in my family was there to get it. It was your fault that you weren't there, not UPS.

Both FedEX and UPS only delivers on weekends if you pay extra, I have never had a package show up on the weekend unless I've paid for it.

Such a n00b thread  LOL

wrong.

UPS does delivery on Saturday but of course there's an extra charge for Saturday delivery.

Wat ya peed for?
I ordered a PCP&Cooling and watched it come fedx and when it got to my door, the guy asked my kid if he can sign?
The now banished child unit says I don't know!
Driver goes away
2nd dayair plus 1 hour drive = NO FARCRY FOR A YEAR!

I've had to deal with this a couple times. Usually I order things shipped to work, but my DSL provider will only ship modems to the installation address. The way around it is to take the little slip they left, call the number, and have them hold it at the UPS office. Then you just have to go pick it up during thier business hours. The one near me is open from like 8am - 7pm or something like that.

edit: You can also have packages rerouted sometimes. You might be able to have them deliver it to you at work.

I've had just as bad happen with FedEx and worse from airborne/DHL. Shipping sucks sometimes, no matter who does it... ;)

I had a similar problem with ups with my 6800 ultra. i payed the $40 to get it here overnight and in the AM, and around 12:00 the card still wasn't there. So i called up ups and they said they forgot about it and i need to come pick it up. I don't ever want to use their shitty service again. FEDEX all the way.

FedEx once left a package at a neighbors down the road from me, who happened to be on vacation... oh the phone conversations we had..., them insisting that they dilivered it, me insisting i never got it... they left it at 5 North main instead of 15. It sat on the guys doorstep for a week befor he came home and was kind enough to look me up and give me a call...

Getting a package can be a hassle sometimes. Ya gotta know exactly what service you paid for though.

I ordered an X800 Pro from Outpost with overnight delivery by 1030AM. I was home the entire day with no sign of Airborne Express. I checked the status online and it says delivery attempted around 1PM or so. I was like WTF no way.

There was no note on the door from them and nobody had come by. I called them up and told DHL what was going on and they said ok we'll get in contact with the location and they will call you back. 10-15 mins later a guy calls me and says his driver has already returned to the station. He asked if I really needed the package today. I said yes I need it badly I must have it today lol. He sent the driver back out and I had the card in 30 mins.

Great customer service there. I have no idea what happed the first delivery attempt.

I wonder how old some of the crowd is in here sometimes.

do your homework. I also ordered overnight from eVga last friday. The card is sitting right here because I had it sent to my work. Some CC cards will let you register a 2nd address. Sat. is special delivery for UPS.

some people get really out of control in here. 'I am going to call and rip them because UPS did their job and delivered the package to my house, but I wasn't there'.

or 'we're gonna phone slam BFG because BB doesn't have their pre-orders'.

i'll tell you what, I'll play a round of FC @ 1600x1200 in your honor tonight. =)

Seriously do you think you're so fucking important that a driver will change their route just to cater to you moron?

Fedex and Airborne Express will. Stop being an asshole.

UPS sucks , and I try and avoid them when i can ..

sent a 9700pro to Canada that they damaged ..took about 8 months to get a refund .. they kept loosing the paper work on the claim

while I was waiting , I sent a 9800np to same guy because 9700pro was damaged .. I sent it 3 day priority( 3day something anyways) .. I live in northwestern Montana ... the card goes to Seattle - to the Canadian border -then down south and ends up in Kentucky then comes back to me ...

I had to resend it ..and second attempt it finally got to the poor guy

FedEx has always been great to me. Once I missed a package and they left a note on my door they attempted delivery. Called them up and had them deliver it to me on the same day. :D

Whenever I order something, the day it's coming I sit in the window with my face camouflaged. When the driver gets there I roll out the door (Max Payne style) with my gun and cover all angles, while he crawls behind the bushes to get it inside. One time I needed chopper support.

You can tell I get excited when I am getting a new PC part :)

After a post like that, you have the balls to call me a moron? Just shut your mouth before you make yourself look even more ignorant.

You think that's bad. UPS is even worse internationally.
My friend once bought a monitor for $150 from the states and had it shipped to Canada.
When it got here, it had a UPS customs brokerage notice for $175 in brokerage fees!

It cost more to ship and clear via UPS's brokerage house (the only choice), than the actual product was worth.

ditto

Man, I can feel the pain in this thread (seriously). Last month i ordered a new mobo and chip, and I had to pay a kid to sit at my house and wait for the package so I could avoid the "tag- phone call- go to pickup counter" routine like I did before.

Next thing you know, UPS will start a business to rent people to accept packages at your door!

UPS = United Pot Smokers :D

Actually frommy experience working there he's mostly right...

But yeah, you can get saturday delivery, but that woulda cost upwards of $70 for that size/weight of a package. (well its under 6lbs but odd shape) anyhow, jsut pick it up from UPS, the distro center should be able to arrange pickup up to like 7pm MON-SAT.

Peace.

threaten to blow up the white house or the Capitol building, and all your problems will be history
