Guys....I need some major help.

I just got a brand new Nintendo Wii. I want to be able to use the wireless function. However, I am unable to see my router within the wii. I have a Linksys WRT54GS with the latest 1.51 firmware. I have NO security setup, its straight wireless, NO WEP, WPA or anything, wireless security is turned to disable with the router settings(192.168.1.1).

Now, my question is this. My laptop see's the connection just fine. However the Wii doesn't. Does the Wii require a WEP or WPA or something to connect? When I go to the wireless settings in the WII, I search for access points, and it does NOT see mine. It does see a neighbors(I live in an apartment).

Any ideas?

Should I get a new wireless router?

By the way, the network mode for wireless is set to mixed(both G and B).

Need help so I can get online!

Is it set to broadcast the SSID? I think you've covered all the bases from the sounds of it. The irony is I have the exact same router and it works *perfectly* with my Wii :(

This is just a stab in the dark, but is the router set to broadcast SSID?

EDIT: D'oh! beaten by seconds.

Yeah, that's my router too. I got it for like $50 on sale and it doubled my wireless speed from my ISP's free wireless gateway. Besides the obvious SSID broadcast, do you have the router set to filter MAC addresses? For instance on mine I only allow my fiance's PC, 360, Wii, and PS3 to connect...no other MAC addresses can. Any idea if you ever turned that on?

I had a similar problem and it had a simple, stupid solution, i changed the channel from 6 to 11 and it worked.

Well, I think I shot this router. It will not pick up wireless anymore on my computer. It will not connect to the internet. I did a power cycle, release and renew on each the computer, router, and modem, starting with modem, and still nothing.

I think I am just going to get a new router. So much for linksys, this is the second time this crap has happened with them and there routers with me.

What do you guys suggest I get (mainly compatible with the Wii)?
