Pretty interesting. We'll see how this ends up playing out but looks like nintendo is sitting pretty.
--------------------------------------------------
While Nintendo has created an impressive booth with 27 games running on even more stations, it is nearly impossible for most attendees to get a glimpse at the titles. A few minutes after the show opened, Nintendo estimated the wait to reach a game station at about four hours. By 10 am, the wait had increased to six hours. By our estimates, there were at least 1000 people in line waiting, especially for a first look at Ubisoft's Red Steel first person shooter.

This round of the console wars:

Wii or 360 1 and 2, sony.....3

Yeah, they have a huge fan base, but I don't care how much of a fan boy you are of something, if you can't afford it, you can't afford it.

I see sony fans trying out the Wii and the 360......and liking them :D

As much as I wouldn't mind sony being humbled, I just can't see it happening. Although I can see the Wii and 360 taking a big bite out of their lead.

Having read the article, I seriously doubt the wait was to see the games, but rather to use the Wii Controller. It's a radical shift from the norm, and people are curious if it really works the way Nintendo claims. I haven't used one, so I can't comment with any authority on, but it appears "gimmicky" to me. Not necessarily a gimmick, as I believe Nintendo is sincere in their intentions to make it integral to the game play, but gimmicky in that they are purposely being different so that they can differentiate themselves from Sony and Microsoft.

While it's relatively easy to lose track of time on the couch for an hour or two playing a traditional console game (where your thumbs and fingers do all the work), I really do wonder how long most people will be willing to play when it becomes similar to a Gym workout. All of the demos and videos I've seen, while probably exaggerating some movements for dramatic effect, definitely show interaction that looks like it could be quite tiring after even a short period of time. Some of those Wii videos showed people holding the controllers out in front of themselves with their arms extended. How many people would want to do that for more than even a few minutes?

The video of the girl playing the mario game didn't look to bad. She seemed to be resting the controller on her leg and just moving around with the analog stick. Hopefully that is more representative of average gameplay posture.

Your right, I am going to start only watching porn.. sex just takes too much outa me :p

jjk :D

It may be more work but it is a million times more fun.

Yeah, alot of people probably want to try it out and see how it feels. I know I really want to... and I won't be buying one until I do. It looks fun, but how will it feel after 2+hours? Hopefully, it will be great. But you never know until you try it.

holy cripes thats a long line.. some how i doubt the people in back will get to play before e3 is over.

Lol, that's just stupid. You couldn't pay me enough to stand in a line that long. Maybe, just maybe if it were moving along at a nice pace, but some of those people look like they've been parked there for quite some time.

I just don't get it. Fly to L.A., pay big bucks for a ticket to E3, hotel, meals, transportation, and for what? So you can spend a whole day looking at the back of someone else's head while you both wait for your 5 minutes with the latest version of Mario? I'd have to pass and just wait for my turn behind the 10 year olds on the kiosks at Wal*Mart when it finally ships.

How stupid are these people?
Who the hell would wait in that line?

I wouldn't wait in that line if Jesus was on the other end handing out Holy water for infinate youth.

The damn system is coming out for less than 2 sea notes in a matter of months and you want to waste 6 hours of your life waiting in line to try it for a short amount of time?

GET A LIFE!
...Sorry, just amazes me

Yes, you would. As long as it didn't take 60+ years to get there. ;)

but youn know what, it's been two days now and i haven't heard anyone complaining about the expirence yet.

Joystiq articles have highlighted some of the cons of the controller, as well as gamespot.

Joystiq's main complaints seemed to be that the controller isnt really that great for all games, they didn't like how the Madden gestures for passing didnt reflect throwing a real football...

I watched on Gamespot and one of the guys had troubles playing Zelda because of his height, but he said that will probably be easily fixed by adjusting the sensor bar.

I was at E3, and if anyone 'took the show' it was Microsoft by far. All of the 360 titles, annoucnements PLUS Vista and Live Anywhere ? Trust me, the buzz was at MS camp.

You mean MS had an even BIGGER line? My wife and I are very excited for the wii.

Don't forget that there is the shell thingy too. Can anyone make any normal resolution pics of the controllers, the only pics that I found were like 1030283232x39828932432 and I couldn't see it well.

I anticipated this. A cross platform game with a complicated, button heavy control scheme that isn't reinvented for the Wii should just use the GC controller or classic controller. Copying and pasting buttons for gestures as the rule rather than the exception is just going to make playing the game a pain in the ass.

I very much agree with Joystiq -- not all games are going to fit with the Wii remote. But, I'm signing up for the ones that do fit, and that shine with it.

That's the way I see it too. I don't think Sony is in trouble, but they may lose some market share this time around. The fact that Microsoft has such a head start is huge, along with a more attractive price. Sony may have sold 100+ million PS2's, but they didn't do it in a single year either.

The problem with the Madden throwing gesture is something that will be an inherent problem for many Wii games. The developers have said that they have had a hell of a time with things like the throwing gesture because everyone tries to throw differently. Therefore the console may recognize your throwing motion but not your friends. In order to alleviate that they need to use a less natural and more awkward gesture for throwing instead of allowing you to simply perform a throwing motion. This is going to be the biggest problem for the Wii...the fact that gestures and gesture recognition is not perfect yet, not by a long shot.

lmao at the guy that said microsoft won, wow

and ign actualy liked madden for wii, if any of u would read some real sites instead of joystiq
