Ninja Gaiden II Black

If someone wnats to let me know what kind of performance they're getting on it LMK. One of my all time favorites. Preferably on a card close to equivalent.

If it's up on Game Pass by the time I get home I'll probably try it depending on how quickly it downloads.

It's fucking gigantic. Almost 90GB.
I played around with it, and it looks and feels good. It's way more of a remake/remaster than the previous package of the 3 older titles. You can pan the camera around with the right stick and it generally feels like a modern game instead of an old game port. It even has a RT setting, although I couldn't tell if you if it did anything in the first area. Performance seemed okay with everything cranked, although I'm on a 4090 for what it's worth. If you turn on RT and TSR with render resolution to 100%, it bogged down even on my machine. Setting everything to the normal settings (even with RT) and it was good to go. There are tons of settings, so you can almost assuredly dial things in for older hardware.
Honestly, I'd rather have a port of the first game that looks like this. NG2 was good, but I'd still put the first one well above it.

I'm with you 100 percent. I hope at some point they invest them money in creating a remake of 1 like this. I'll probably just dial down the settings and play this weekend.

Woah the black version? F**k, I want to get it now, but I'll hold off for now, till after I can get a 5090 :).

I played like night for about 45 minutes and finished level 1. My problem is it looks exactly what I remember it looking like as a kid. Still a complete blast if you like these games. The camera jank is still present which I personally like. Once I got to level 2 and looked around a bit it set in how good the game looks now. I had to shut it off and go to bed though. Looking forward to getting into it over the weekend.

I remember getting Ninja Gaiden for NES on my 8th birthday, in 1992. Good times. :) I never played 2 but will have to check this out!

This is what I remember Ninja Gaiden 2 looking like as a kid...

I started playing it and they added a nub difficulty so I guess I will continue trying to win this game.

This looks great. I hope they make a new Dead or Alive game in UE5 too. DOA used to contend for the best graphics in a video game but fell off after DOA4.

The first two 3D Ninja Gaiden games were killer. Especially the first one. I'd put it in my all-time top 10 for games in the 3D/modern era. I think the series has been forgotten a little bit (Dark Souls stole some of that thunder), but they were ground breaking. 2 lacked the interconnected level design and free-roaming world stuff, but it dialed-in the combat about as well as you can. I never played the launch version of 3, but I guess it was super easy and mashy. The WiiU version was NOT easy and wasn't half bad, though. It didn't bring anything new to the table, but it was more, more, more.
What's funny is that I still have the muscle memory for some of those longer combos. I was hitting the izuna drop and whatnot after playing for just a few minutes.

Is this more Devil May Cry combo like combat or Souls(ish)? From trailers I am assuming the former.

Soulish. It will punish you to death. However, I see a nub mode and in that mode I was making progress then forgot about me playing this game lol.

New patch fixes missing DLSS and XᵉSS options in the Xbox app version of the game. It also fixes some soft lock scenarios.

They also say they're preparing additional content and balance adjustments for mid-February. Hopefully that means they're going back to the original's difficulty instead of the Sigma version after they claimed this remake was based on the original.

It's a character action game, so it's DMC-like.

The difficulty doesn't make the game "Soulish." The gameplay is far from being similar to a Soulslike.

I stayed up til 3 am last night and played through the whole thing. I was just on a roll and couldn't stop. I feel terrible today but it waw completely worth it. It makes me sad that games peaked somewhere on the 2003-2010 time. Most fun I've had playing a game since Uncharted 4 came out on PC.

Other minor bug fixes

Glad to see them continuing to support this. I think the remasters of the collection only got a single update (or maybe 1 more later) before they were cut loose.
It's cool to revisit NG2 with a slightly more open mind than I did when it launched. At the time I was super disappointed in the linear level structure, but almost 2 decades later I get why they went that route. The colosseum level is stunning with the visual updates. It's super unlikely, but I hope NG4 is super successful and inspires a remake like this for all 3 of the original games.
