Ninja Gaiden 4

Preferred NG2 Black to this. Enemies had less health and IMO, that played better for the faster paced fighting style. It was also easier. Still a bit hard, but I could reasonably do most of the challenges. This game I could barely progress through the challenges. Wish they would unlock more of them so I could play others instead of the few I got stuck on. Still liked the campaign. I suppose this is just a harder game, for those that are more into fighting games you might prefer that. I will say the graphics/engine looks quite good. It is an in house engine and looks better than 2 Black (on UE). Runs quite smooth with few stutters.

Still interested in the expansion as it seems to have another campaign.

Am late to the party and playing through this game at the moment. I tried to play it when it was new'ish, but one of the early patches screwed up the aspect ratio and made the game letterboxed in 4K. Everything seems to be fixed and functional now.

Controls are snappy and it feels natural if you've played the older ones. It's leaning more into what I remember of NG3 on the WiiU. Chaos, lots of enemies, lots of repetition. I find myself doing the same sequences over and over (mostly flying swallow to launcher to izuna drop) in most scenarios. The story and aesthetic feels closer to NG3 than 1 or 2 as well. It's that campy eyeroll take on anime rather than the action b-movie take from the first 2. They weren't totally serious, but they mostly played things straight. This one is over the top goofy. I'm not sure if I truly like it, but it at least feels familiar and welcome. I think I wish it drew more inspiration for 1 rather than 3. I can't quite put my fingers on why, but there's a certain cheap/chintzy feel to it. I think it's the UI. The UI, fonts, etc. look like they're from the PS1 era, and not in a good way.
