So, how would you define "soundly on top" I wonder?

According to the results from the site you linked, GeForce 6800 Ultra wins:

@ 1600 x 1200 4x/16x

In COD
In Flight Simulator (by a razor margin)
In Join Ops (oops, ATI couldn't run - driver problem)
In Doom3

And XT wins in

UT2004 (by a razor margin)
BattleField Vietnam
RD2 (clearly a driver problem)
Far Cry (by a razor margin)

Unfortunately, some people only look at things they want to see.

Tom's Hardware is as much of a joke as Driverheaven.com and rage3d.com.

The X800 Pro looks crappy (for a $400 card) in that review, and the XT-PE loses exactly half of the bencharks. nVidia cards routinely hold 2 of the top 3 spots. Are you blind? :confused:
 
i love how in the picture it shows an agp xt and a pcie 6800 lol

Everything said in this thread, with the exception of the orginal post, is right. Why do some "fans" feel the need to see either side on top? :rolleyes:
 
I bought a X800pro for $329 at compusa modded it to a XT PE capable of running at 540/570..Hey Nvidiots you wan to talk about value?? There is not clear winner this round it's a flat out tie between the XT PE and Ultra. I chose ATI because the 9800pro was the clear winner last round and I didnt want to have to purchase another power supply. By the way Tom's Hardware is a great site!

The XT PE beat out the 6800 Ultra? Thats not a surprise. I thought the XT PE competes with the 6800 Ultra Extreme.

i'm not really a fan of either cards but i buy whatever is the fastest. but you comment on toms hardware is a great site almost made me piss my pants.

toms is so bias its not even funny.

Powersupply? did you take alook at how much more power the nv 6 lines take? They actually use less then the gf fx line :p And also they were only 10 more watts then the competitive ATi card also, its not that much more......

BTW I hope you were being sarcastic about the title of this thread S-S256

actually the 6800 ultra is the best stock graphix card on the market. if you look and look and look the vast majority of comparison reviews and single reviews say that it is the fastest on the market.

Occasionally you will find one that says ati is on top. like this brainiac here.

I tend to go with about 20 different reviews before I buy anything.

I guaruntee my ultra 400/1100 overclocked bfgtech6800gtoc would and will blow the ram off of any model ati card. I even have stock BFGTech cooling and this thing never ever overheats or malfunctions. THANK YOU BFGTECH.

The x800xtpe is not remotely as fast as the 6800 ultra do your homework you will see. googlesearch and look at graphs on all reviews ultra is much much faster and in quite a few instances the GT beats the PE also.
 
Your GT will not "blow the pants off any ATi card."

I'm sure its fast, but trust me, XT-PE's are just as fast or faster, just depends on the game and the system its in.

ATi might have won the 500$ card market, but they have nothing for the people looking in the 400$ range, except the xpro, which blows :)

Thats odd cause the vast majority of sites say the XT PE is faster by a few frames. ;)

Bull you cant overclock any stock cooled ati chipped card that much at all. Mine is insanely overclocked and stable as hell. I will put mine up against any ati card any day of the week.

Did you notice I said stock cooling?

the bfgtech6800gtoc overclocked or an Evga6800gt overclocked would and will blow the chips off of a PE hands down.

cant we just say that the 6800ultra and x800xtpe are even? i mean cmon all reviews will say different things but that can all fall in the 3-5fps margin of error(usually the difference in FPS of these two cards)

they are both equally good cards and excel more than the other in some games


now the 6800gt vs the x800pro(STOCK) the 6800gt DOES outrun the x800pro in most games

no we all know you can softmod x800pros but 6800gts can overclock to and past ultra levels also

with either card(6800ultra or x800xtpe) you will not have regretted your purchase, 3-5 frames isnt worth the deletion of a thread

i will challenge you to that.
my 6800GT runs doom3 at Ultra settings with 4xAF 2xAA at 1280x1024 with 72FPS with the new 66.70 Drivers.
i also never dip below 50 to 55 on heavy fire fights and heavy level's...beat that...hehehehheh
i win
and tom's hardware is a GREAT SITE...AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
