Nice mATX case: Lian Li PC-A01

I think its kinda plain and ugly, but not a bad case....
fanless...? or do they not want to bundle a fan with case?? at what temps? lol

I run two shuttle which are half that size, that do me very well... I just think that if your gonna go MATX... do it as small as possible.. Im not a huge fan of the MATX towers.... kinda

oxymoronish' if you ask me.

just my opinion.. you don't have to like it..

do you really need two 3 1/2" bays??.. i haven't used a 3 1/2 since I installed my Raid drivers.. once... then i ripped it out....

Just some random points....

Right.

Now... its a bit tall for a HTPC case, and a bit tall for a SFF. I think an A05B would be better, or a that short one based on the V1000.

A Dremel will easily fix the ... whatever you call it. Fit in whatever heatsink you please, I imagine.

LL PC-A01 is an interesting case. I'm surprised it hasn't got more attention. It's main novelty is an air duct which makes the CPU fan do double duty as a case fan, drawing air into the case. I think this was also the idea behind the BTX m/b form factor.

Similar in design, but much smaller and cheaper is the In-Win Mt Jade. Review here:

Even without case fans it beats a bigger and more conventional mATX case by a couple of degrees on CPU temps. Both cases can be used as tower or desktop. Downside is the design forces you to use the stock cooler (or something similar in size).

Some other mATX towers use the same principle, with a side air duct connecting the CPU fan to the outside, I can't find much hard data about how effective these things are. This youtube vid claims 5 deg C drop by ducting the side fan to the CPU:
