Watched my beloved Predators get beat for the fourth straight games by San Jose. Props to the sharks, quite a team going. Anyway, first time shooting a sporting event. My settings were off due to the indoor lighting, so i tweaked them as much as i could. I would love some criticism on making these com out better next time around.

Good pics, the face off with Joe Thornton is pretty good since those usually go so fast. Also since Joe Thornton used to be a local boy (Bruins).
 
i remember when i got some ultra rare rookie card of his in a pack of upper decks, and i thought it was gonna be worth something, but he didnt do shit for his rookie season. Now he's on a tear, just gotta find that card somewhere
 
I hate the Bruins. Irrationally. More than Richard Clayderman.

Those are great pics. Hockey games are hard because the ice is so bright, you have to overexpose by two stops at least, or spot meter very carefully.

It looks like you had a very fast shutter; what effective ISO were you using?

I had my shutter at 400 and 520 respectively for different shots. I used 800 ISO which is much higher than i like, but the pictures were much too dark with anything less. There is noise in the pics at higher resolutions which I need to work on cleaning.
 
I think a slower shutter (1/40 or 1/60) would help you get more light, and get more blur for action.

Yeah no doubt. I just dont think blur in the hockey game would have looked right. Which is why i opted for higher shutter speed.
