anyone else get this? what a piece of crap. I just got myself a 4870 and was looking forward to some new releases like Far Cry 2 maybe give crysis a shot as well. I loved NHL08 for the xbox360 and figured it would be the same on PC but with graphics tweaks and what not.

Boy was I wrong. Dead wrong, this has to be the worst looking hockey game I've played in 5 years. Absolutely nothing like the console version. Very disappointed, stay away!

This is what I was afraid of and knew would happen. EA has been ripping off fans of the NHL series for the PC for years. Next-gen my ass. Glad I have a PS3 for this.

yeah, NHL and Madden. They don't even bother to give roster updates. I bought one of the NHL games for the PC a couple years ago, and the SOB would crash 5-10 minutes into every game. Other people had the same problem, and far as i know, there was never a patch to fix it. EA sports games should never be bought for the PC. Total FU to consumers.

The last NHL I purchased for my pc was NHL03 I think with Iginla on the cover, i loved it. NHL09 was such a disappointment for me. I will never buy another NHL game on PC, the 360 version of 08 was incredible IMO and I played countless online matches and played through multiple seasons with various teams. I'll be getting the 360 version of this this weekend. Screw you EA and your NHL PC bullshit.
 
NHL on the PC is the same as the PS2 release.

NHL 07, 08, and now 09 are all built directly off of NHL 06, with some minor tweaks and changes to gameplay. I think EA has licensed the old-gen game out to a 3rd party developer, who are under contract to keep making incremental updates.

With the great stuff that people put out online for NHL games, you might as well just go back and play NHL 06 with user-created updates. It's a helluva lot more fun than any of the subsequent PC versions. It's times like these I'm glad that I have a 360.
 
EA for the last 2 years has been giving PC users the PS2 version because it is less taxing on the system so they figure more PC users will buy it. They do the same with the FIFA series too. Last good FIFA for PC was 2007. Morons.
 
NHL 09 was one of the only reasons I bought a 360, and let me tell you it was worth every penny.
I stopped playing the pc version after 07.

Do they even support widescreen res yet?

I was thinking FIFA got updated graphics this year? New Player Models or some such, no?

Regardless, EA sucks.
 
Yea, but it's same as PS2 version and not 360/PS3 version. No? That's what they did last year anyway for both PC FIFA08 and PC NHL08.
 
I waited until pretty much the beginning of this month, and finally realized that a 360 port was not coming to the PC (before they released any info) and just got it on the 360. Really sucks because it's an amazing game and I can only begin to imagine what the modding community would have done with it, when you look at how much different a modded NHL 06 is compared to the default.

Yeah, it's been ps2 graphics the last few years, but i'm pretty sure i read 09 was getting updated player models. Though, i believe everything else stayed the same, ie it still looks like sh it for the most part.
