NHL 09 is out for the consoles and getting great reviews. EA website state that the PlayStation 2 and PC version come out in October. My questions are

1. Is the PC version a port of the Xbox or the Playstation 2 version. They have given us the crappy port in the past.

2. Is it going to have widescreen support (I haven't bought a EA sports game in a long time).

Thanks

1. Probably not. Its a different set of developers and will probably just be another rehash, like the ps2 version. I would even go as far to say that they wont even have the new superstar mode.

2. Don't get your hopes up. Same engine = same res. People (including myself) have been begging EA for a widescreen version. They really dont care.

I played 06 and 07 on pc before I just gave up and bought a 360. For 08 alone it was worth it and 09 is getting better reviews.

PC port is from the PS2 version. Which is too bad, because I'd love to have a Xbox360 port on Games for Windows.

this. except replace "bought a 360" to "bought a PS3." I would be shocked if the PC version was anything other than the PS2 port.

I would be shocked if it was anything more than 07 with new menus (just like it has been since 06.. literally not a single change except for soundtrack, menu graphics and a "roster update" that reflects pre draft rosters, so by the time the season starts, teams are all screwed up in game.

Agreed. It really pisses me off that EA cares so little when it comes to the PC with certain games these days. Oh well, NHL09 on the PS3 rocks hard.

Yup, the modern engine has been rocking hard for 3 installments now. 09 is a very very refined version of what I considered the "perfect" hockey... no.. SPORTS engine/game ever made. I didn't think it could get any better in NHL 07 until 08 came out. 08 was absolutely perfect and couldn't be topped..... until I played the 09 demo.
