NFS: Most Wanted is crashing to desktop

Key points
1. The game will quit to desktop, and show no errors. It's almost as if someone is hitting Alt+F4. It only crashes when racing and joyride. And it random, anywhere from 2min to 20min.
2. The game ran fine on my 1.4g T-bird system, and ran fine for 3 weeks on my A64 3200.
3. Windows, video card, sound card, and most wanted all up to date.
4. Swap out ram and video card.
5. Other high power games run fine
6. Tired all the registry tricks, like changing the swap files.
7. Tired most no-cd hacks.
8. If even did it on a fresh copy of Xp pro install
9. System not overclocked
9. Tired the compatibility modes

AMD64 3200 (939)
3x Apacer Tech 512Mb 2700
1x Mosel 256Mb 2700
ATI Radeon 9000 64Mb
Audigy Platinum EX
 
Go into the event log in your Control Panel->Administrative Tools section. It should give a detailed report of the crash. It may point to an EXE or DLL file that is causing problems, this may point you in the direction of solving the problem.

Sometimes newer drivers mess up on older hardware, have you tried *downgrading* your graphics drivers?
