nForce 4 Ram Problem

I added another 512mb stick of ram to a computer and it wont see all of it. Right now I have a 1gb stick and a 512mb stick. I can take out that 512mb stick and put in the new one and it still works and sees 1.5gb of it. So I know that ram works. Does anyone know why its doing this? I tried to look around but cant find anyone with this same problem. I know nForce 4 chipsets are weird about memory. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, thanks.
