i'm trying to squeeze some more life out of my computer. i currently have an NF7-S with an XP2500+ and 2x512 PC3200.

i was thinking about adding another 1gb of RAM, but the manual has me confused. it says that the board supports 2 dimms of ddr400 and 3 dimms of ddr200/266/333.

does this mean that if i want to add more pc3200 ram i would have to take out 1 of my 512 sticks and replace it with a 1gb stick so that i'm ony using 2 dimms?

also, could i run 2 sticks of 3200 and add mix in a 3rd stick of pc2700?

thanks

It means that if you populate all 4 slots your ram will run at ddr333, even if the ram is ddr400, a chipset limitation...
Your best route is to get 2x1gb sticks and only use 2 slots.

thanks for the info. the board only has 3 slots, but i suppose that doesn't matter.

would running 1 gb of 2700 be that much slower, considering that the 2x512 would also run at 2700?
