NF7 Fan Died...

Well, my fan finally crapped out on my mobo, it lasted longer then most..lol. I would like your guys opinion on what the best cooling would be to replace that fan? Slot Cooler? Not to much though. $5-15 range.

o_O most of them have the push pins that go thru a hole in the motherboard and have barbs that open up on the backside to "catch" it on. Can be a real pain as you need to take the board out to squeeze the barbs together so the push pins will back out of the holes.

If you have a small pair of side cutters you might be able to get at the bottom of the push pins from the top side of the board and cut them. They are plastic.
 
Haha, mine hasn't been working for about half a year atleast.... It doesn't need one... Everything works fine with the stationary fan :p
 
true dat, my NF7-S fan is dying, i can tell when i see it stop spinning, then start again :)

Looks to be alright, i don't think i will bother replacing it unless I get some serious data corruption.
 
I decided to get a 80MM fan instead when I saw that my CPU temp was 52C idle. :eek:
 
Would it be alright to take out the fan so the chipset can be uncovered?
 
No... there is a heatsink on the nF2 chip for a reason. A Zalman heatsink is like $5, just replace it.
