Okay, so I finally got a 9600GSO and popped it in my boxen - when it's the only card in the system, it runs about 3600-3800ppd stock. Then I tried to put it in my 2nd slot, and keep my old 8600GT in the first slot, but it seems that the 86GT is limiting the 96GSO to about 1700ppd! I read through the guides, but can't find anyplace to disable SLI, which is what I'm guessing the culprit is. And that's even with nothing running but the 96GSO GPU2 client (no SMP, GPU on 86GT, etc).
My original thought was to keep the 86GT in for daily use, and dedicate the 96GSO to folding only - that way I never have to pause the work when I want to watch a video or use CAD... But at this point, it looks like the 86GT is going away - the convenience is NOT worth losing 2,000 ppd!
Any ideas what I might be missing to get both running correctly? Ideally (with 96GSO SP's OCed), I'm thinking I should get 4500 ppd (96GSO) + 1500 ppd (86GT, if it survives) + 800 ppd (e2160 SMP) = 6,800ppd. Sound about right? And even if I toss the 86GT, I should still get > 5,000 ppd, and have room for a second 96GSO around Xmas sale time!
(Heh - Orange Badge, finally! On to Red!)
