When do you guys think the next generation of sound cards will come out? How much better do you guys think they will be?

I'm currently debating whether to upgrade my TBSC to a Revo or an Audigy 2 (as my prior thread shows).
But if I can hold out...I might just upgrade my Altec Lansing 621 to the MX5021. (BTW, do you guys think that would be a significant upgrade?)

Well they are making 7.1 now, but I think the next gen cards will be better quality, maybe a little more effects in games, but nothing revolutionary.
 
Nvidia is going back to a northbridge/southbridge solution for their nForce 3 chipsets, for the Athlon 64 line. It is said to have integrated 7.1 audio. I am hoping that it has integrated Dolby digital encoding, DTS would be an nice addition as well. IMO, nothing beats nForce audio.
