this may sound lame but i am new to the whole downloading thing, im looking for evox for my xbox, and people tell me to go with a newsgroup, i have heard usenet is very popular, but if it going to be worth the money for all the xbox files? thanks.

All you need is a news reader (Grabit, XNews, etc) and after you set that up, you need to specify the groups to join (as mentioned above)

Download whichever reader you want, setup the server by adding your ISPs news server (i.e. news.east.cox.net) Contact your host if you don't know your news server. Once this is setup, it will display a list of ALL groups (big list, may take a few minutes) and then you can start adding your own.

it isn't necessary to sign up for usenet/newsgroup usage since most ISPs provide it for free. of course, the quality/reliability isn't always the best as compared to third-party usenet service providers.

yea alot have shit retention which make them more hasel then their worth. For instance my ISP has a max of 2 day retention which basically guarntees incompletes in most things.

3-4 day retention for my ISP, 45 days using EasyNews.
