Why do all the news threads link to the [H] news page for that article rather than the article itself? For example, why does the link on this thread link to this page instead of this one? Apart from the destination of the link the posts are exactly the same. I know you want to generate site traffic and it's your page, so you should link to it, but why can't there be another link, say, directly to the article as well?
 
Because HardOCP is the main site and there's ads there and it gets page hits for the main site. WHen I was a wee newbie, I once wondered the same thing, but you know, [H] deserves some revenue from all the advertising and having the article there helps towards that.

That's why in a nutshell.

Page views = good thing.
