AMD Price Cuts & Dual Core Pricing:
DigiTimes has news of AMD price cuts as well as upcoming prices on the dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processor. Intel is said to be dropping their prices on Celeron D processors at the end of the month as well.

AMD has informed motherboard makers that the unit price (for 1000 unit lots) for its Sempron CPUs will be adjusted downward in early August, with Sempron 2500+ prices dropping more than US$7, according to sources in the motherboard industry. AMD also plans to launch a dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processor on August 1 priced at US$345, a third less than its current lowest priced dual-core CPU, the sources indicated.

time to start saving some money boys :D

woooo whooooo!!!

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

I just wish all of the reports had some sort of idea on the PR Rating these X2's will have. I've been looking for the last hour, and the best I can find is that it might be more akin to a 3200+ X2. Here's to hoping its something a little faster than that.

Nice. Once the X2 gets around the $300 point I'll pull the trigger. I would like to see what speed they are running at though.

Ditto, um again I guess. I hope that it doesn't take a ridiculously long time. My XP2200 needs to go.

Not go... it needs to be relegated to folding only dutie! Never get rid of hardware... just shove it in a closed, turn up the FAH, and pretend you don't know how much your power bill is!

It will be a 2.0 GHz chip, so it will be approximately like two 3200+ Venice cores.

whatever the case thats what i am waiting for 300 +- bucks right on slap that beast in my computer then get another s939 board gig a ram vid card darn bought a new cpu and got another computer for folding;)

That's what I meant. I am still in school and will be for a while (going into grad school soon) so power is not an issue!
