This I've found earlier, sorry if its already been posted.

ATI plans to introduce three varieties of its R520 core, when it's released next month. We now also have the official names for these cards and ATI has surprised by not going for the anticipated 900 number. Apparently during a brainstorming session the marketing think-tank responsible for naming cards, decided that 1800 is twice the figure that 900 is and therefore better suited to describe the new ATI product.

The top variety (X1800XT), as reported earlier, will have a core running at 600 MHz and memory at 1400MHz and will feature 16 pipelines but its availability will be restricted early on.

The PRO version (X1800PRO) of the core will feature a 550MHz core and 1250MHz memory, also with 16 pipelines, while the budget version will be the (X1800XL) which will have a 500MHz core and memory running at 1000MHz but will also have 16 pipelines making it a rather attractive budget option.

Considering that the PRO and XL versions are expected to be widely available, it seems that ATI has shown a preference for the cards that are expected to sell well and we have to admit that both the PRO and XL (provided their prices are reasonable) sound like good boards.

Click here to see the card. Surprise, it's red.

thx god ATI went back to the PRO having the same amount of pipes as the XT...

i don't recall many ppl have the 800 or 850 pros...

like to see back in the 9800seies where the PRO was a better choice to buy then the XT

Actually NO where has it been confirmed that hte X1800XT Will be launched with 16pipes, so far all we know is 16,24,32 will be avaiable but I think they said 32 later on
who knows, i guess we just need to wait and see ^________^

since when was the pro better Then XT?

XT - more mem and higher speeds 0.0 in the 9800 series anyawys

Indeed, XT always comes on top...

And I thought X1800XT was going to have 32Pipe lines? :p

Well ATI hasn't officially announced anything in terms of pipes for certain, but most models will prolly come with 16 pipes.

kinda a big difference between 16 and 32 pipes, no? maybe we'll see the 48 pipe r520 too.

Well the GTX has 24, so rumors are made by ATi fan boys saying it has 32 :p
It might even have 52 Pipelines

I think by better to buy is it was much better performance for the dollar considering many of them if not all could overclock to 9800XT speeds and even be bios flashed to 9800xt depending on memory/pcb.

i think u mistoke my pt..

my pt is that back in the 9800series, more ppl buy pro then XT (by a large margin). cuz most of them can just OC to XT speed anyways.. Kinda like the 6800seies, the GT was more bang for the buck over the ULTRA..

so if the new X18PRO can easily overclock to XT speeds OR offer little performance difference with the decrease in clock speed, wont u think ppl would buy the PRO?

Where'd you get that information? I'd like to see a link :p

So is it 16, 24, or 32 pipelines for the XT? Does anyone have a definite answer or are we all pulling this from our asses? Well I guess it's all still rumours, who knows, yet another speculation thread. :p

Why do you want a link? He's obviously got the inside scoop. Probably knows someone at ATI's underground top secret base there in Tupelo, Ms.
