I just got a package today of what I thought would be two new Western Digital Raptor Drives (36.7 GB) I was JUICED I love getting new stuff!

So I open everything carefully...the first drive is scratched to hell... It looks like someone used it for a hockey puck!

I almost faint!

Then I look closer...its covered with dust! Only the kind of caked on dust you can get from being inside a computer...

ITS USED wtf!? Even the Jumper setting has been moved around.

I'm pretty pissed because I think they were hoping I just wouldnt notice it was used. I dont like being taken for a sucker.

This totally killed my mood for today...and I was all juiced because today is my 21st birthday!

I would tend to think that it would be a warehouse employee making a very low cost addition to their computer. The Egg is a high class operation and doesn't pull switches on their customers. Go for an RMA immediately and send them the pictures. You will get what you paid for :)

Of course man... I bought them both NEW! The other one was perfectly fine. Newegg had a deal couple days ago where the drives were like 109 dollars right on their front page.

definatly RMA it and send newegg a civil, polite, letter of complaint, including pictures.... i think you'll be very satisified with the results.

OEM

This confusing term has two meanings:
1) Originally, an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) was a company that supplied equipment to other companies to resell or incorporate into another product using the reseller's brand name. For example, a maker of refrigerators like Frigidaire might sell its refrigerators to a retailer like Sears to resell under a brand name owned by Sears. A number of companies, both equipment suppliers and equipment resellers, still use this meaning.

2) More recently, OEM is used to refer to the company that acquires a product or component and reuses or incorporates it into a new product with its own brand name.

OEM is not used, it is also known as "white box" Basically, the manufacturer sells a finished, and new product to a reseller who either puts their own name on it, or, in NewEgg's case, sells it as an OEM. You get the unit, and that's it. No manual, no cable, no pretty box. They pass the savings on, usually. ;)

Dont be a jerk to NewEgg though their business is 99.999% of the time superb and if something is wrong they always fix it, dont worry youll be happy when you get a perfectly fine one back

i love newegg too. i got one of those raptors for 109$ aswell. They better not send me one of those, or i'll flip. They had a big mixup back in november when they advertised the sapphire 9800NP's with sammy ram and shipped out the black PCB etrontech 9800NP's....i called back and yelled till i got a refund and 30$ towards a new card. If this HD gets to me like that, i'll yell until i get two.

Yep. Just be polite on the RMA form. I had to RMA a stick of Geil memory (which has been kick ass running in dual channel on this P4 ever since) saying that it failed memtest and I got a new stick within the week. Just RMA it as usual and put a letter of explanation in with the package and your pictures. They will be satisfied with your patience and consideration, and you will be with theirs. They are great on their RMA's.

Thats more like it....

Thank you for contacting www.Newegg.com.

Please accept our humblest apology if the drive was not received as you expected. It was not our intention to sell you a used drive and try to pass it off as a new one. We will gladly accept the drive back for a replacement/refund at your request. We can also cover your return shipment up to $15.00. Please click on the link below to authorize a return to NewEgg.com. We will email you all pertinent information once the return is approved.

Dude that's pretty cool of them to reimburse you for shipping it back. That's the way all businesses should be. My girlfriend got me a fossil watch for my birthday a couple years back and a week after I had it the damn clasp thing broke. I called up and they kept telling me I had to pay to ship it back to them and I asked them why I had to pay just so I could have a watch that fucking worked like it should have??? and they just kept telling me I had to send it back to get it fixed. I was so pissed off. Anyway, that sucks that they sent you a bad drive but it's good that they are going to exchange it. I've never had any problems with newegg.

Ain't that the Truth. The have never done me wrong, and if they did, I know for sure that they would take care of it, like they did for this dude.

that's why i keep going back to newegg... not so much the cheap prices -- they are cheap, but i'm sure i could find better deals on specific things elseware, but i don't even care to look -- they still care about the actual customer. they realize that there customer will keep coming back for all there computer part needs, which in the end will amount to thousands of dollars from each user. I bet if you checked there accounts, the amount of $ the average user spends there is absurd. I first started using newegg in early 2002, and since then my poor broke college ass has probably spent well over 5 grand there. not so much on computer parts for me, but for whoever i build computers for etc. and everytime i upgrade, i go there.

newegg realizes this, and so they go out of there way and are willing to drop a few bucks in order to keep the customer happy.

I have bought sooo much stuff from newegg with no issues , good to see they handle their mistakes when they are made

Special Ed: Yaaaay!

I've had to of gotten over 3k of stuff from newegg, Never done me wrong. Now i know if they ever do mess up, prolly wont happen, it gets fixed fast.

I looked back to the first day I started shopping at NEWEGG and I have spent over $6000.00 WOW! I am sick! Never once had an RMA (-:

That is when you know you've got yourself a good online retailer.

Me and some buddies of mine almost always buy our stuff from Newegg. The exception is when Newegg doesn't carry something specific, which luckily isn't too often.

Over the $5000 or so we've spent there, never once have we had a problem. Actually, I think one of the guys did, but Newegg took care of it no problem.

They aren't the cheapest, however, they are still low priced. And I'd rather pay slightly more for better service like they have consistently shown.

As odd as it sounds but that is the same reason I shop at Sams. The service and the prices while not the lowest are still good.

That and a breakfast of samples always saves a few bucks. ;)

Yeah i spent well over 3 grand there and just bought a Monitor and a heatsink from there today ;)

I love the egg

Yep newegg has superb service. One time when i recieved a case the front plate was completely destroyed, they not only sent me a new front plate to repair that case, but also an entire new case so I got 2 cases and only paid for 1.

I must say that Newegg is the best online retailer. Always very polite technical support and never had a problem with them.

....any bozo can make a mistake, but real professionals (1) admit it when it's pointed out, and (2) make it right. Looks like they are going to live up to their fantastic reputation....once again.

The egg rocks......first place I check for parts needs.

Good Luck - B.B.S.

I'm 500 bucks into building my new system (lots $$$ to go...) with all stuff bought from newegg...and I'm going to keep buying from them.

Their reputation is rock-steady and I like how my problem was handled with no hassles.

As far as me getting a fubar'd drive?

Shit happens I guess...but at least Newegg cleans up!

I'm building a new system in about 3 weeks and will probably get most of my parts from Newegg!

I built whole computer from newegg with P4 3.0C for my cousin.

Then I built P4 2.4C for my friend.

I have been purchasing so much stuff from newegg and never had problems. Everything was as good as described and never broke down.

Typical Neww Egg sucks post.

They always follow this format;

NewEgg did me wrong. Something is wrong with my order and I want to post about it before I call them. (always wondered why people post here instead of calling first  )

Reply from whole forum;
Call NewEgg, they will handle your RMA/return with utmost professionalism.
