Why is newegg forcing UPS shipping on us?

I just dropped a seasonic 600w psu in my basket and went to select fedex shipper saver, its its $5 cheaper than fedex overnight(21.43 vs 27.75). The hell is this about? I have been ordering items from newegg for about 2 years and have never encountered this on anything other than large akward items such as cases. I hardly believe a belive a powersupply would weigh as much as a case nor be in a similar box.

Now this leaves a simple question, why is newegg jacking the prices of Fedex express saver?


I personally can't stand UPS. They send packages to every distibution center from source to here(which involves unloading, scanning, and reloading blowing about 4 hours per stop). Packages always takes twice as long to arrive than with FedEx. They deliver anywhere from 9am to 8pm and tend to attempt delivery when no one is home. There was even an incident where the delivery man entered a "delevery attempt" on the tracking when in reality he was never at the house.

Well the way it looks now is that they have lost the sale. And I will no longer reccomend newegg to people inquiring about hardware.
 
FedEx raised their rates on Newegg :( Shipping costs in that business, unfortuantely, must be passed onto the consumer. Here is a press release detailing some recent and upcoming increases.
 
Maybe Newegg had a special deal with FedEx to provide cheaper shipping, if they would be exclusive to FedEx (which for the most part they used to be afaik). FedEx might not have wanted to keep that low rate due to higher gas prices, enter in UPS which might have agreed to a provide shipping at a lower cost.

Personally I strongly dislike UPS as well, since they screwed up my shipping on my TV Tuner (3 day shipping, their tracking said it was supposed to arrive on what would equate to 4 day shipping...and it was even a day late so 5 day shipping hooray!) I bought from Newegg awhile ago. Newegg was also extremely slow on the shipping. Not only did the not honor my rush processing request...but they didn't even ship it the next day either! I sent an email complaining to newegg and they refunded my rush processing and my shipping fee, which was nice.
