Im thinking of buying my brother some Ram and a video card for his birthday. a 512 stick and a 6600gt. The thing im not sure of is will they screw me over with money order.
They say..

You can place an order and pay by check or money order by choosing "pre-paid check" in the payment drop-down box, instead of a credit card, as method of payment. You will receive detailed instructions. Basically, write the order number on your check, print your confirmation and wrap the check or money order in it and send it to us.

Is it legit, and about how long will it take for me to recieve the ram and video card?

If anyone has every placed a money order with newegg please tell me how it went cause Im debating on weather or not I should do this.. doesnt seem to safe.

Well its as safe as any other mail order deal. Figure 2-3 weeks for the check to clear, then a week in transit. If you can just link your bank account through paypal and pay them that way, they'll ship same day and everything.

Thing is im 15, and parents dont want me spending $400 on a video card and other thing. (might want to buy some stuff for me also)

Btw im doing money order if I do it.

then your limited, that said.

echeck is faster than what youll be doing. Maybe you can ask a buddy to purchase it via their acct and u pay them.

btw, i think a MO or CC would be safe with NE. They are pretty good about their customers. Besides, your covered with MOs.

tell your parents its this or 400 dollars in weed. :)

MO would be faster than the checks as it wouldnt be on hold for clearance through the bank.

banks give checking accounts (w/ debit cards) to 15 year olds. hike your ass over to a bank and welcome yourself to adulthood (well, part of it anyways).

your parents will like your initiative.

So, I can make my own bank account without my parents supervision... If not I think they'll know when the bill comes that I wasted $400 on something for my computer.

Money orders are completely safe and Newegg is a great company. If you trying to keep it from your parents, getting a bank account is not the way to go (though you're gonna have to sign for your items from Fedex when they arrive either way; make sure mom's not around when it comes.) Anyways, the great thing about MO's is that you can cancel them at anytime with the reciept. If you think something's up, take the reciept back to where you got it from and get your money back.

i bought things from newegg a few times using money order. once it was for a $220 radeon 9800 pro and about a week passed and my order status said they haven't received my money yet so i started panicking. fortunately a few days later the order status did update and my card was finally shipped.

youre 15. youre using your parents money you dont have any money of your own just tell them to use their credit card and save some time.

im in the same boat, a bit older, but i used a MO and since its a postal MO they can cash it right away at the post office and ship it out.. takes pretty much only as long as the post office takes to send the evelope there... thats how i bought my x800xt :)

WASTED??? *gasp*

Computer parts are NEVER a waste of money no matter the price as long as you are happy in the end.
