I just about died and fell on the floor... I would've bought the limit of these beasts and shared the good fortune with my [H] mates, alas it was a server error or something and displayed the wrong price :(

I clicked everywhere I could to try finding where that price came from, no dice.

They do that to make you click it, and you then have a drop down menu for the 64/128/256 etc which will change the price. Sneaky!
 
yeah i saw that yesterday... i don't care for it ..just wastes my time trying to figure out what their price is.
 
IMO, it is false advertising because they show a specific model. Based on the ad, I expect some version of a M4 256GB Crucial starting at $76.99. If they had said Crucial M4 SSD from $76.99, then the ad would be fair. The Egg needs to be taken to task on this if they are doing it regularly.

Yeah I saw that the other day too.

That's very shady newegg. That is absolutely unacceptable.
 
Yup I stopped shopping at newegg years ago. When I started using them to build computer many years ago, they used to have the best deals. Even with tax it was worth shopping there. Now they have moved to stupid BS tactics, raising the price before having a "sale" that is the same price as before. Honestly, the only thing I use newegg for now is their item descriptions and reviews, then I buy the item elsewhere for cheaper (usually amazon). Newegg dropped the ball years ago and have been fumbling for it ever since.
 
Like Biznatch said, Newegg's reviews can be helpful, but a vast majority of the time you won't find the best prices there. In the end it's just a nice research tool. I usually end up buying refurbished servers from http://www.unixsurplus.com anyway to save money.
