Alright.. so here's my story

Last month I ordered some Geil PC 3200 memory on a Monday morning.. two weeks later I look at the order status, its still being prepared in the warehouse so i give them a call, they say they'll ship it right away but it turns out they ship it the next week after that on a Monday. Came here on Wednesday, I opened up the fedex box and there was NOTHING but the invoice inside. I called them and they told me that I had to call fedex.. so I did and they said they were going to call newegg and call me back.. i never got a call back from them. So i just called newegg and told them to keep their money. Now one time is not a problem so i figured that I wont have any more problems if I order from them again.. so I ordered an ABIT IC7-MAX3 motherboard from them last week.. its still being prepared in their warehouse. I give them another call and they say my shipping address is different from my billing. WTF!? Many people say it even works if their shipping is different.. it turns out that the shipping address is the same.. their stupid service just took of a letter of my last name. They can keep the $180 for that too.

*EDITED*

If you've had enough with newegg like me, i'd suggest you check out these places instead: eXcaliberPC.com, ZipZoomFly.com, Mwave.com, eWiz.com, SideWinderComputers.com, Voyeurmods.com, SVC.com, i know im missing a ton

Thanks for reading.. let me know what you think, your experiences obviously are more different than mine.. i guess i'm getting just pure bad luck when I order from them

I feel for you man, but I personally haven't been burned by any online retailers. I ordered over $1000 in parts from Newegg in December, they all came fast. The CPU I ordered gave in after I used it for only a day when I finally got the comp set up, but I RMA'ed and Newegg already sent me a new one (still waiting to get a new heatsink though, so I haven't touched the CPU yet).

Hope you have better luck next time, but if you don't use them again, you still have a lot of other good choices. ZipZoomFly rocks it too (bought my 9600XT there).

i don't think this is the place to talk about newegg's service, but i have orderd from them ~10 times, great service every time, bad luck?

Take it up with the Better Business Bureau - yeah it's NewEgg, but if they are fucking you over, you shouldn't be taking it.

You are going to find that 99.9% of us order from Newegg when we buy anything, and also that 99.9% of the 99.9% of the ppl that order from them, are completely and udderly satisfied. I order from then usually once every couple weeks and they have never messed with me, I always get my stuff in 2-3 days. Once in a great while you'll hear a story like you'res, but not normally.

Newegg? Yeah, I'm definately calling this thread bullshit right now. Never has something like this happen... and I will continue to spend my money at Newegg!

Agh, how can you let your money fly like that? I wish I could afford that.... if I lost even $100 from an online retailer I'd fight my ass off for 110% of it.

I guess I'm just poor though :\

Maybe this thread will turn into a "good place to buy stuff" thread.

So I'll list a few places for the Canadians out there:

www.bigfootcomputers.com -- Great shipping rates, GREAT shipping times, great service, good selection and prices for modding stuff, watercooling, fans, heatsinks, etc. Based in Toronto, ON, but they ship to the west very quickly!

www.ncix.com -- Excellent for everything that bigfoot doesn't have + all hardware. Great prices, shipping is USUALLY okay, although I've been waiting 1 week so far for my new parts (see sig). Excellent selection, especially with RAM (although they don't carry much Mushkin stuff). Based in Richmond (and most of the lower mainland). They even have 3 retail stores open. I'm really looking forward to seeing what these guys can do.

www.anitec.ca -- I'm really scared of these guys, but I'll put the link up anyways. The site and the business are run by "new Canadians" if you know what I mean. If you phone them, it's very unlikely you'll get someone who speaks English very well. They're based in Vancouver (Kingsway), so you probably know how it is down there. I have never bought from these guys and probably won't.

If you guys have any other good Canadian online retailers, let me know!

i've never had newegg screw me over.. and i dont feel i ever will.. i've heard so many stories of where there was a mistake in the shipment or something and they more than made it right.. who in their right mind would tell a company to just keep the money anyway? are you completely insane? newegg is by far the best company on the internet to do business with.. go newegg!

lets see...ive had about 10,000 of business with them, about 20-25 orders, and ive never had ONE problem. could it be that maybe your shit got stolen by fedex/leaving it there (you didnt say if the box was dropped off or if you signed for it), etc etc.

newegg kinda screwed with me also..

I tried ordering parts for a new PC 10 days ago. The server said my card was bunk. So i have to wait till monday to call newegg to ask them wtf is going on. They say it was a glitch with there service or something. Anyway..I order my parts monday at like 11:30am EST. I put the rush processing on it and two day delivery. Everything ships out 4 days later on thursday. I get everything BUT the case on friday. Come today i finally got my case and was able to put the thing together.

Man it sucks knowing you have everything to build a PC except the case and you have to wait it out over the weekend.

I'm also quick to label this story shady at best. You had me up until the point of saying the box was empty except for an invoice. Those invoices are added along with the products....they are initialed and checked each and everytime. If someone tampered with it from FedEx, you should have noticed that from the box. And I don't know about most people...but I certainly wouldn't give away $180 like that. I'd be on the phone with my credit card company putting a stop to that payment.

I highly doubt the poster bought the items from Newegg. No way that two of his purchases took that long to ship. If he did, he should post the invoices.

Seriously, if I was you, I would hunt down the beotch that is responsible for my lost. I mean, you lost a lot of money man. I wish I could just walk away from that kind of a lost like you. I would be stressed out beyond belief, lol.

Alex

$50K over two years (supplemented my suppliers with NewEgg).

Not one problem, ever. Even RMA'd stuff about 4 times, very prompt.

....between "B.B.S. Laboratories" and my employer, I'm pretty sure I'm in the $20K club with the egg.....

Never an issue, RMA's were on the money, fast and promptly shipped out on the return, good e-mail communication each and every time......not sure what to make of your probs.

B.B.S.

Also, keep in mind Kyle does his homework before choosing sponsors. Perhaps you've noticed who's on top of EVERY page here?

Honestly, I don't believe it either. Most people would ask how to get their money back, not just say that the website sucks and conveniently give a list of alternatives. This is just too unusual.

He said he paid 180 for the Max3. The Max3 is 191.99 on Newegg's site and since he's in CA, he would have to pay taxes. Thus, the price should be over 200. The story is plain trolling.

well, you're problem first came with ordering Geil period...

btw, Newegg is kickass, get stuff in 3 days or less.

If it happened to you twice, and very few other people, maybe it's something about you? How's your credit card status?

The story is plain trolling? You think I would bash a company just for fun?

I said $180 because on most other resellers it was 180 and I didn't want to browse newegg again just for the price. If you hate me so much why dont you leave negative heat.. mine is under Darkstar

I just wanted to know your experiences with newegg I didnt want to know what you think about me and posting something that might be fake

I edited the post, because I dont like to make newegg look like a bad place to shop.. if you like it, why stop

and to the other posters who understood, thanks for your time, i really appreciate it

Newegg really is a great way to order items online, i've had a couple orders go through but my last ones are just completely unacceptable

Why would you need to browse Newegg for the price you paid? You have an account that already contains the prices of items that you claimed you paid. If youe story is true, then email Newegg and settle your problems with Newegg. I myself made numerous purchases and my deliveries unsually arrive the next day.

You don't remember how much you paid for an item last month, so you just grabbed a price from some other site? I'm not going to call bullshit because I have no way of knowing, but everything you said sounds like bullshit. I doubt anyone else here has had a problem with newegg that hasn't been rectified promptly.

I generally order stuff from NewEgg.com at least 3 times a month - last year my order history came to 118 orders totalling just over $36k.

never once did I have a problem with NewEgg & getting something shipped - of course, products have arrived DOA 3 or 4 times, but considering that there were probably 1000+ single items throughout those orders, that's an extremely small portion.
DOA's really aren't anyone's fault, either - unless you're these schmucks.

'Tis a shame you've had that sort of experience with them, though. :(

I have had nothing but good luck ordering from newegg so far *knock on wood* I have probably ordered 500$ worth of stuff just since the first of this year... and thousands worth last year (I run a computer upgrade/repair business)

Any chance you work for Tigerdirect? :D

/Edit: Just to clarify, I'm gonna call BS on at least 50%.

I've been ordering from newegg for years...and not had one problem. That seems to be the norm. I hate that you had a bad experience, but if you'd contacted newegg in good faith, they would've bent over backwards to satisfy you.

Like so much else in this computer-happy world, the problem is between the chair and the keyboard...

Ahhh...the infamous PEBKAC error.

I have almost been exclusive to New Egg for all my supplies for well over 2 years now and I gotta say...

Never has a company been so damn good to me.

A couple of examples:

I wanted to order some Arctic Silver, a tube worth about $6 approx. Their default shipping was about $5 for it. Making it so that I paid double the price for a tube of Arctic Silver (I live in a small town, nothing local sells it). I called them up and asked them what they could do about maybe knocking down the price on the little tube. Voila, not only did they knock down the shipping price, they shipped it for free and I got it 3 days later.

Another example was a monitor I got from them. I paid $100 for a Samsung SyncMaster monitor they had on sale. Not only was shipping only $6, but that also got to my house in 3 days, without an issue one bit. I saw the same SyncMaster on the Best Buy website for $30 more then what I paid with shipping.

New Egg is by far THE BEST online. No question about it, they've not only supplied me with what I want, but on top of that, they've gone above and beyond to satisfy me.

I totally think this dude is a complete troll... from what I remember of friends and their situations with online retailers, this scenario describes Tiger Direct long before it even touches New Egg

Newegg has great customer service. Once, I forgot to add my free gift to my order. I called two hours later to ask them to add it to my shipment. The guy said the order already shipped. (In two hours!)
He then tells me he'll send me my free gift seperately (on the house)
I got it the next day. Now THAT is customer service. They bend over backwards for their customers.

That's odd, I've just had the greatest luck with NewEgg by far than any other places I've shopped.

I love newegg. I'd like to know the secret behind why they're so good because in the beginning, you could hardly trust anyone selling online .....cept them.

Thats pretty funny. I'm gonna make a thread demonstrating how I'm a moron too!

Never had problems with them. It must've been the problem with FedEX and not newegg. Well, I bought many parts to build my pcs, my cousins pc and my friends pc. Everything arrived as fast as it could and never missing anything.

I'm suprised you had problems with newegg, especailly since you live in CA. They're always #1 in my book and i've never had any issues ordering from them. I've spent thousands of dollars between myself and the company i work for, always been a pleasure to purchase from, especailly since everythign comes within 1-3 days! Shipping is always fast as hell for me.

The delay with your order b/c of the shipping and billing addresses being different is common with most online retailors that i've dealt with, they all state that their will be extra delays if the addresses are different. Now the mistake with the name could be NewEgg's fault, but it could also have been a typo on your end as well. I'm sorry you've had bad luck with Newegg, and i strongly encourage you to try to get your money back, but 99% of people have had nothing but positive experiences with them, that's how they've become as big as they are.

I have seen a couple of problems with NewEgg, but they have been strictly limited to initial orders with corporate business cards where the shipping and billing addresses would be in conflict. However, after the initial delay of the first order to get everything squared away, things seem to go quite smoothly.

I will also call BS, not because I think Newegg is infallible, but who in their write mind would just let a few hundred dollars worth of computer parts, just 'go'. I think there is something else going on here.

(slaps the BS buzzer) Wrong forum. I call shennanigians!!!

Yea and next time you want to send someone 300 bucks and get nothing in return. Let me know I'll suggest a few charitable organisations.

Bah, why don't you fight for it? If you're pissed enough to try and flame newegg here, in the home of lovers of newegg, then wtf won't you ask for your money?

To plagiarize from the Trump, "If you don't stick up for your self, sure as hell no one else is going to either."

Don't whine if you won't follow through yourself and certainly don't try to proselytize because of it either!

Personally I've sent over $5k worth of business to newegg from friends and customers and never a problem, never more then 5 business days before I got the stuff, no problems with shipping to non billing addresses because I'm setup as a business with fedex (if you do a fair amount of trading/ebay this is a good idea anyway).

However, I built my entire current system from zipzoomfly.com back when they were googlegear, and much of my dads systems, another $3k total and its all good with them too for anyone that wants an alternative, and they ship with my company (UPS) so thats always good for me business wise too. ;)
