Interesting though i'm pretty sure this is the wrong forum, it either belongs in Genmay or maybe hot deal discussions.

Stock in an online retailer, in a niche market, unknown to the vast majority of consumers, competing with more entrenched businesses, working in a sector increasingly beat down by the recession, issuing an IPO to pay off debt?

WHERE DO I SIGN UP!?

You have to basically know some one at the underwriter, Citi, BOFA, and JP Morgan.

Almost everyone here will be buying it in secondary markets.

Also, good luck getting a hold of shares of this IPO or any other for that matter. Most shares are already promised to large funds and any that aren't will be gobbled up by the major players instantaneously.

I don't see this being good for Newegg honestly, their profit margins suck

I like private companies to stay private. What is Newegg gaining by going public? More money? Nagging shareholders pressuring them to increase revenue by raising prices? Bad move.

When the stock price goes down, compaines go out of business all the time. Private companies make money because their income and future is not being predicted by gamblers.

This, when companies go public things go wrong. STAY PRIVATE NEWEGG.

1) old news 2) good luck getting shares 3) they're going public to raise capital, it was bound to happen

You need to know someone at the underwriters not just to get in on the offering, but to get access to the business plan to make sense of this move.

This is really depressing. Newegg is such a good company for consumers; if they change to maximize profit it will be at the expense of this great relationship.

Not a hot deal.

If you want to discuss this, there is a front page news thread here, or there is also one in General Mayhem if you are a subscriber.
