Newegg has X1800's!

479?? Ouch thats 7800GTX territory.......But I guess like i say, its only worth what someone is willing to pay. :p

Anyone who actually read the thread ;)
Only one post - which everyone ignored - said Newegg had them. In fact, the second to last post in that thread when I posted specifically said Newegg did NOT have them.

Other posts said that Outpost had them (who cares), some Fry's had them (not all, and an argument ensued about that), and AllStarShop had them (who cares).

So....yeah, needs it's own thread. :D

Blind much ;)

And there's really no need for multiple threads on XL availability.

Oh, but there IS! :p

'sides, no mention in that other thread at ALL about the supposed Crossfire board availability. I know a lot of people have been waiting for that one!

Hopefully Newegg will have lower prices on the card when third party developers start making them.

As to the latter, fair enough although I have *no* idea why anyone would waste the money until they see when and at what prices the X1800 Master Cards actually show up at. X800 Crossfire is a waste of money imo; actually Crossfire/SLI is a waste imo but then again I'm limited to 1280x768 by my LCD so I can say that ;)

Sweet Jehova's Witness, they want $450 for the X800 master card

Here is some overclocking with a "mastercard" lol Couldnt resist

Anyone else see the lone review on that x1800xl at newegg? 3dmark05 score of 17,900...wtffffff. Shame it's probably total bs.

Very nice results. It will be interesting to see how much further he can go. I'm more curious what these cards will do on air / water.

What was interesting to me was that he stated that retail cards, in his experience, overclocked better on average, than engineering samples.

The only "review" of the product is funny... What a tool.
"These cards are amazing. I put one in my system and oc'ed it to 900/1.5g and ran 3DM05 at 17900 and 03 was at 27259. RoxxorZ... ATI is the best! and as always, newegg delivered it 3 days earlier than I expected! i had it in September!!!"

Yeah I really wonder how he got a score of 17,900.... Prob just some ATI guy :p

I must admit that I'm quite impressed with ATI's ability to get these X1800XL's onto shelves within two days of release. Everybody here, including myself, was expecting to see ATI let its consumers down again with another paper launch.

But what most of us wanted is the XT, it still should be corporate policy to ship all products the day they are launched. If both cards were available i would not be having a hard time figuring out which one I want. I could wait it out, but then it approaches christmas and spending 500 dollars on me instead of the kids just seems wrong, but if I spend it now, I dont feel so bad.....why that is I dont know

I can't see anyone other than die hard ati fans buying this card. You can get a GTX OC 460/1300 or even a more extreme 490/1300 7800GTX card for this price. That type of 7800 card will surely hand this XL card it's arse for the same price. ;)

Or people who don't subscribe to your philosphy as to what criteria they should use to judge the card they are going to buy  Performance isn't the only reason people buy vidcards. Features are important as well.

yeah ATI needs to lower its price pronto for its new gen card to be competitive. i kno they don't want to do it imediately cuz they want to reap the profits, but thats their penalty for being so late to the market

yeah but most bang for the buck counts for alot too

If that's what your criteria includes, sure. I'm just pointing out that performance is not the only criteria people consider when buying a card. The statement I was correcting was an ignorant one. That's all.

They weren't too late with the XL. I mean the 7800GT only came out about a month and a half ago; so they aren't too far behind at that price point.

The X1800XT, obviously, is a different story. If I was ATI I wouldn't have bothered to even launch that card and just put the R&D money towards the next generation instead.

well too late for that too, they NEED to release the XT, cuz the XL can't even tromp the GT (performance wise, i kno about the image quality). ATI would not let the GTX reign any longer

You need to check the numbers again. In upcoming AAA titles like F.E.A.R. and CoD2 the XL is the class leader.

so? im not saying absolutely KILLS the XL. and most ppl will still play OLD games won't they? of cource there will be games that they both do well at. but for a card that cost more, and is later to the market as the XL was, the market expects it to at least hold a significant advantage over the GT. and quite frankly that is the only way ppl will fork the premium over a GT for a XL. its not like the image quality of the XL is night and day against the GT

I dont think my statement was ignorant, there is nothing this card features that the GTX cannot match or best in my opinion. Image quality is subjective to the eye and I haven't seen a big difference there. Remember the XL is 256MB also not 512Mb like the XT. Score 1 for ati with the HDR AA, but score 1 for nvidia with the Vertex texture prefetch feature without a workaround to cost performance. IQ settings vs performance cost favor the 7800GTX card. SLI is possible, Where is the crossfire X1800XL (dont hold your breath for it) What features are you refering to maybe you can enlighten us.

Why not wait until the retail game(s) come out, then compare the numbers.

More expensive than the GTX (check zipzoomfly). And I'm assuming that since it's built by ATI, it only has a 1 year warranty.

If it drops 100.00 in price, and has a comparable warranty, then it's a contender.

Again, everyone's generalizing. Price is a factor, but it's one of many criteria to consider when getting a card. Each person values features, performance, etc in different ways. On the other hand, to be a popular card with most people the price definitely has to come down.

And waiting for the games to come out means you don't buy a card until after the 25th at least. That's great if you can wait, and irrelevant if you can't.

I don't see why I have to "enlighten" anyone. Read the reviews and make up your own mind as everyone should. Features, price, performance and how you value them determine what card you will buy.

As for this non-issue with the hardware prefetch I would suggest you go over to the beyond3d.com forums for an intelligent and informed discussion of the topic.

As to image quality, it sure is subjective, some people just can't see, others like fake things (for example a lot of people who buy TVs like that super bright look with jacked up contrast as opposed to accurate reproduction. Similarly, some people like super bright speakers even though they're coloring the sound) ATI has better image quality, there is no question on that. Whether ATI has better image quality to YOU is something that each person must answer for themselves.

All all I got to say is that is one LONG ASS card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How am I generalizing?? Are you flat out stating that the performance is better on the XL than the GTX? What feature(s) does the XL have that the GTX or GT does not, that make it worth that much more money? Your "trump" cards are two game DEMOS that may or may not represent the final product.

The only reason I see for buying this card at it's current price and warranty is to be able to say that "I got one of the first ones available!"

Hands up! Who here look for the best price/performance ratio when buying?? Is a long or lifetime warranty a factor? (makes you feel that the manufacturer is willing to actually stand behind their product)

YOU need to quit generalizing and be specific about what matters most to you when purchasing. Then we can actually see how many people agree with you. As it is now, I can't figure out what the hell you think is important when purchasing a new piece of hardware.
