You guys know how you can extend the warrenty with newegg. Should i do this with all my purchases or do you think its a waste of $$$.

For example mushkin 1 gig pc3500 cost 16.98 for the extended warrenty. How long is the manufactor warrenty on this anyways?

just wondering...

99% sure muskin has lifetime warranty on their ram , i know corsair and kingston do as well as most other manufacturers. imo extended warranties are a big scam in general unless you buy a product that you know has a tendency to break (game consoles come to mind here)

This would be interesting for LCD and HDDs with 1 year warranties... Depends on the cost.

RAM will 999+ times out of 1000 suffer the same failue mechanisim that most modern semiconductors have. That is, if it's going to die from "natural" causes, it will usually do so within the first 90 or 120 days of service. Normally, I find the bad stuff within a couple of hours into a 3DMark run.....

For RAM / CPU's, I think a one year warranty is probably adequate. Most of the memory I buy has a lifetime warranty with the manufacturer, so in the yet unneeded case where I had a RAM failure, I think I'd have some recourse.

As a rule, I don't buy extended warranties.

FWIW - YMMV - ETC.....B.B.S.

There is a Lifetime warranty with the Mushkin memory as there is with most of the high end RAM manufacters. It would be pointless to get an extended warranty on something like that.

I usually try to buy everything Retail when i can instead of OEM cause alot of the time the warranty is longer. I always try to get a hard drive with at least a 3 year warranty on it.

Depends what the warranty covers.... if it covers things you break, then that's awesome. Does newegg's?
