 Prices subject to change without notice.

would really like to see a 30-60gb ssd for under $35 shipped for once.. without having to deal with rebates..

If you do find one at that price it will be sold out by the time you see it.

Anyone have an opinion on the XFX 7870 at $213?

If it didn't have a MIR I'd call it a great deal (see: [H] reviews of 660Ti). However, every time I see a MIR I just shake my head.

When are you going to start listing the Plextor M5 Pro 256GB? Plextor says you already have them

That's a screaming deal, IMO. I just bought two ASUS 7870 DirectCU II GHz Editions that were 209.99 after MIR and free shipping. Great prices on 7870s lately.

I was right about to buy the Galaxy 670 4GB for $440 ($420 after MIR).

But now here's the [H] deal for the MSI 680 2GB for only about $30 more.

I know there's a small performance difference between the 680 and the 670, and in most games the 4GB frame buffer will not improve anything. But my main game lately is a heavily modded Skyrim with various hi-res texture replacements. I have to disable a lot of eye candy to get it to run on my ancient 4870X2, of course. But everywhere I look for comparisons between 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB cards say that 2GB is sufficient for all but the extreme resolutions with multiple monitors -- except in the case of a heavily-modded Skyrim, which benefits from the additional VRAM even on a single card/single 1200p display.

The only question I have is if this is the future of gaming? I'm not basing my purchase decision on a single game title, no matter how often I'm playing it now. But if hi-res texture packs are the new standard for modding... if these high VRAM requirements for detailed textures are going to be the new thing on PC -- and not merely a sign of poor texture optimization in Skyrim specifically -- then I want the additional VRAM more than the <7% performance difference between 670/680. (As can be seen by my sig, I'd prefer to buy for the long-term. Like ~3 years. This will be the first upgrade to my rig since April 2009 other than storage.)

I use over 2gigs of video ram on my 3 monitors. If you only go for a 2 gig card you may short yourself.

And long term 7970 cheaper and look at more stats, cant beat the price.
