Newegg casemod contest

yeah. I looked in there, and 3rd place wasnt anything fancy. Hell, it looks a lot like my case that I got off the egg for $30.00...

$570-something 1st prize. Hell, even for 3rd place, its worth anyones time to do a case mod.

Hmm. Maybe I should have kept this to myself, and give me a better chance to win. But, I couldnt let you guys (or gals, if there are any) miss out on this. Its like getting paid in computer parts to mod comptuer parts. Except this time around if you win, it will be free.

Cool, one of the judges is Kyle too..
Yeah, thats fricken sweet. Other judges are Christian Allebest from Entertainment Almighty (?) and Dan Turner from FiringSquad.

Commence the modding!

All ready entered, there's a ton for entries according to the last email I got from them. They are way way behind in getting the entries posted. Here's a quote from the email;

"We have received your mod. We have also received a diaspora of entries, more than we expected. We are diligently reworking the contestant page to accomodate these new entries as they roll in. We will have all of them up by monday of next week."

Every premod in the world was probably entered. Maybe newegg should clairify what "modded" means.

I dont mean to bitch and moan, but it is a "case mod" contest. I see some cases that are modded, and some that look like a regular plain 'ole box.

What newegg really should do next time around, is like on the ricecop site. They have a "rice or not" which displays a picture, and you have 0-10. 10 being a ricer, 0 being not a ricer. Newegg should just show it there on their website, and have everyone who feels like clicking, vote. Once x many people have voted, close the polls, tally up the votes, have some real live people look them over and draw a conclusion.

This is one sweet-ass case mod. I dont think that can be picked up off bestbuy's shelves.

Here is another kick ass case. Look at it. Its still somewhat off-the-shelf, but that is customized, and its modded. And I like it.

Heres what bugs me:

Here is some computer Porn. Nice, I can see right through her. But Im no dummy, clear acrylic cases can be purchased right off the shelves. And you could argue about the neat cabling. People, this is a case-mod, not a case wiring contest. Mod the case, not wire it up all neat and clean. Any case any person builds should be wired up neat and clean no matter what. Cute lettering, but its too plain for me to consider it.

And another case. Im not feeling the whole case-mod theme on this one. I see a clear plastic tube thing by the window, but it looks like a plain case. Am I missing something important? Btw, this is the 3rd place winner.

I know that most of the hardforum mebers case mods would out do that 3rd place winner. I also dont mean to start a 10-page long flame-brawl / argument. Just mean to post what the competition is... :)
