I just created a "repair disk" via the menu option in the control panel. It didn't seem like it contained much data, it used less than a 700MB CD.

Can you actually reformat the entire HDD with this disk, or does it just contain system restore options?

Also, does anyone know what key to press during startup to enter the boot menu? I tried just starting the computer with the disk in the drive, but windows just automatically booted from the HDD.

Thanks.

The repair disc that you created sounds like the bootable one that just has the start up tools on it like memory diagnostic, repair startup, etc.

If you want to actually do a complete PC backup, that option is there. It will take 2-3DVD's.

when I go into "backup and restore", it only gives me the option to create the "repair disk".

Does anyone know how to create the full backup disks?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the Backup and Restore center. On the left side click "Create a system image".
