Hi,

I am new to this forum and am a new buyer for monitors. I am currently on a 20" LG Flatron W2061TQ and am planning on purchasing a new 23.6" - 24" monitor as I am planning on upgrading my graphics card. I plan on using this new monitor for gaming purposes and some multimedia. My question to you guys is, what do I need to look for with these monitors? What are some of the brands that I need to check out? I saw a 23.6" Samsung at buy.com that was on sale for $159.99 and was interested until I saw that it did not have HDMI. My friend also told me that he wouldn't go below the resolution of 1920 x 1080 on anything more than 22" yet that seemed like the common resolution for most 23.6" monitors that I found on newegg, is that resolution normal for that size screen?

Thanks for all your help,
abp.

Look for monitors with a wide viewing angle panel. This is the most important. Unambitious examples would be the Dell U2311 or such as the NEC EX231WP. 1920x1080 is ubiquitous yet not all pixels are made equal.
