newbie overclocking, need help

I know this thing can go faster then stock speeds.

MY Barton 2800 is unlocked I can change the Multi.

Don't know much about my ram, any suggest on timing and stuff like that??

Problems are this

For some reason at stock speeds I have to put my vcore to 1.7 for stability, I think my board under volts or something.

I need to know optimal settings for this rig. Information that you need that I have left out just ask.

My HSF is THIS

Come on help me out i know this barton can go higher.

I got my GFs sempron 2800+ s754 from 1.6 to 2.4, I know my barton should overclock better.

LMK what to do.
 
First of all that cooler is a piece of crap, I can definately say that you are going to get what you pay for in that area.

Second of all we need more information....

What is your barton currently running stable at? Voltages? What power supply are you using? What timings is your memory rated at? Try to use 2.5-3-3-8 starting higher and working your way down will help you determine what your ram can OC at.
 
What i did with my barton 2800+ was..

lower the multiplier
sync the ram with the fps (200.7mhz on the ram)
increase the multiplier little by little


i never touched my ram timings and i got it to run at 3200+ speeds. That was my goal, it was stable, and i used it for a long time! It was great
 
Alright here is the update..

My barton was running at 11x 200fsb stable. Sync with ram. 2.5 3 3 8

I ran Prime95 and i had an error after 1min 22secs.

Ran 3dmark 03 with no problems.

idle temp is 50. and it got up to around 64 under load. not good. Right now at stock speeds 12.5 166, i have 47 idle. This seems pretty high to me...

I have some AS5 on my cpu, but i dont know if its on there correct. I think it might be sitting wrong, that is why my temps are not right... Not sure.

My HSF is copper and the CFM is pretty good. I am about to get a Ehiem pump, Black Ice rad. and maze3 block for my setup. Should be here in a few days. Should help me out alot.

dude that hsf is a joke its a fucking piece of garbage if you are at 64c under load you are getting close to the danger zone. I recommend backing it down until you setup your water cooling. And yes the water cooling will definately help with speeds.
