Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop, freshly returned from Dell with it's third motherboard. For those of you that are not aware, this PC was the subject of a class-action lawsuit due to the inherent design flaws of the unit. One of these flaws is the poor heat dissipation that they provided for the CPU.
Because this CPU runs uncommonly hot for a laptop (sometimes in the 70 deg C range), I was wondering whether the CPU could be changed to one that would not fry the motherboard to death, and perhaps even offer an upgrade in performance at the same time (hey, I can dream, can't I?).
What I currently have installed in the machine is the original 3.06-GHz Mobile Intel Pentium 4.
Can anyone suggest an alternative CPU that I could try? Getting the BIOS to work with a different chip is my main concern...
Thanks!
Chris
