need some advice, i bought a p4 prescott 2.8ghz, abit ai7 mobo and kingston hyper-x pc3700, with slk948 and tornado 80mm.
it was successfull in oc before but after update bios i cant oc at all.
originated oc at 250mhz 3.5ghz.

please help.

newbie.

Please tell me you're joking...

You put together a nice prescott system and instantly bump up the FSB to 250 and expect it to boot? Good luck.

I assume you have run it at stock speeds? After you do this, try running 201mhz, then 205, then 210 etc... until you get the max stable overclock without changing other settings. After that, change your memory ratios and voltages a bit and see if that helps. You simply cannot expect it to run 250 at stock.

did the oc before with voltage increase to 1.51v if im not mistaken and run well. so i dont bother, after update the stupid latest bios then it cant boot, now using standard 2.8, sigh:(

check temps...prescots get very hot...and to the guy who said to go slow, i went from 133X11 @1.5vcore to 250X9 and 1.75 vcore... and bam, worked fine...he's a n00b, give him a alittle slack!

what processor are u using?
1.71v
250fsb?
what mobo are you using?
the hyperx, what is the voltage and timing i need to run at ddr466 at least.

Do some research on overclocking, get some direct questions, then come back and ask them. I still have no idea what you want us to do to help you. It sounds like your motherboard doesnt run your processor at 250fsb after getting the new bios....

So? Run stock and start overclocking again. What your max overclock is with one bios version versus what it would be with an older bios is different. You just have to take that into consideration.

P.S. Nice sig... I wonder whos you ripped off to make it look so nice... Please be the least bit original before you blatently rip off something that another forum member uses. Its only proper and shows a little dignity within the forum.

This has been seen before at [H].

First read the article Prescott and Upgrading. It goes into good detail about the power requirements of the Prescott.
When you are done that, read Prescott Tweaks Dangerous for your answer.

To quote:
The 865PE Neo2-P Platinum Edition is designed to support the Intel(r) next generation Pentium 4(r) processor: Prescott. However, owing to the different manufacturing process and power management, we've made some voltage limits in the BIOS to protect the Prescott P4 CPU from burning out. Meanwhile, you'll also find that there is no CPU voltage settings to adjust. This is also for system protection.

I would venture to say your problem is based from the same reasoning of the motherboard manufactures. They have enough of a problem controlling the extreme heat and voltage at stock settings, much less on a stressed overclocked setup. It's my guess that Abit took out the overclocking options for a Prescott so you dont melt your motherboard down to a puddle of metal and plastic.

thank sorry for the rip off. was in a hurry just now, ur one is nice. dont mind borrowing it to me for a while.

i will check on the bios version before and after, now can even oc at 3.2ghz at all. my bios wont boot.

anybody know the hyperx pc3700 voltage setting and timing?
did someresearch but it didnt help. this is my first oc so bear with me, thanks.

manufacturers have been taking ALL CPU manipulations out of thier BIOS'es because you CAN and WILL create a big heaping pile of goo if you're not careful with the prescott...odds are they wrote something in that disables or de-stabalizes the prescott CPUs if set to anything but default...

flash back to your old BIOS...if it was working fine before why'd you mess with it? :D

help. need help.yesterday i have tried and i cant even oc at all,
tried fsb 210,215,220,225 and not even succesful.
i have tried pumping more voltage but i can boot but fail to enter window.

please help me. i feel so dissapointed and sad. i cant even oc, also flash back to the previous bios but same result. hope all the guru able to guide me.

if still can oc i was thinking to upgrade atlon64 3200+ and the abit kv8-max3. is it a worthy upgrade or better faster than my p4 e?
