Newbie Hard Drive Question...

for one, i cant recall HDD's haveing a "write speed". anyway read is how long it takes to find the information and access is the time it actually takes to load the information

I might be mistaken, but I think you may have the definitions reversed.

think you meant seek instead of read

seek time of a hard disk measures the amount of time required for the read/write heads to move between tracks over the surfaces of the platters

Access Time = Command Overhead Time + Seek Time + Settle Time + Latency
