I....am a mac person. But my mom has a pretty fast PC that I want to get a better video card for so I can play games on it. I'm not really down to put a lot of money into it because its not my comp. Can anyone recomend like a 150-200 $ level video card that is as good as I can get for that money?

Need a little bit of info on the pc to know what to reccommend for it. For example, we need to know if is agp or pci-e.

its the type of slot the video card fits into on the motherboard of the computer. Tell us some info about the computer, Is it a prebuilt computer like a dell or gateway(if so what model), or did someone build it for her? When did she get it?

Heres the best run for $150-$200

AGP:
6800 non gt/ultra Around ~ $150-$170

PCI-express:
x800gto^2 --- Very rare so prices are climbing $230~
x800xl --- $200 on ebay probably

its a pre-built "power spec" which doesn't say anything I know its a pentium 4 but again that doesn't have anything to do with it- thanks though I'll ask my computer friend next time hes over.

exactly what i was thinking...do you know of any with 256MB instead of 128MB that can have the extra pipes opened up?

I would up the ram to a gig and look into 6600gt's, great cards for less than 150 bux. Cost you about 40 dollars for another 512mb stick of pc3200 ddr.
