building my new computer this weekend and I have a question about SATA new Western Digital hard drive that I am using.

If I hook the new drive up to my sata1 plug on my mother board (New asus a8n32slideluxe) which will be my hard drive which handles my os (window xp). will the mother board see that hard drive as my boot drive. I don't want to do any raid options just on hard drive to handle the os and then I will have to other drives for storage which I think I should plug those in on SATA2 and SATA3.

Is this correct.

New build
mother board - Asus A8N32-SLI
processor - AMD X2 4400
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Power Supply - Ultra 600W
Video Card - BFG 7900GTX 512
Hard Drive OS - WD Raptor 74GB
Hard Drive Storge - 2 X 200GB WD 7200
Memory - 2G of OZs (2X1GB)

You should be able to set this in the boot priority in the bios. Typically nowadays if its the only drive with system files, IE an OS, it will be the only one it can find and thus boot to it.

When you install windows it will ask you which drive to install the os in. The computer will boot from that drive unless you tell it otherwise in the bios
