curious about dual core proc's, the 6400 runs at 2.13 ghz, does that mean in total it is basically 4.26ghz or does it not work like that?

Dual Core isn't really two seperate cores, it's two cores in one... think of it as one chip split in the middle and then soldered together. It will only be 2.13, not 4.26. Dual Core is handy when you have a lot of apps running and the like, just helps split the load among the two cores, is all. Not such a big deal, I can't say I notice much of a difference coming from a single core AMD 3800+ to a DC opty @ almost 3ghz. For example, I thought it would get rid of stuttering when I scan for viruses and something, it only lowered it a bit...

hmm, so how much of an improvement would that chip be over my old pentium m 1.73ghz?

The stuttering from anti-virus scanning is from the hard drive, hence why you see no improvement from that.
