It is bad enough that Sony went from leading the console market with the PS2 to last place in the current-gen console race but goofs like this have to make it worse. Thanks to Ed C. for the linkage.

:p
That reminds me of the pic that showed a sony HDTV with a sign advertising the amazing picture quality of Blu-ray that was actually hooked up to a Toshiba HD-DVD player. You can't blame sony or the store though; when I go to wally world it is usually pretty late and so people are restocking and I know for a fact that most of those guys (at least here in Texas) don't really speak english.

I would say if the stores hiring people that dont know english then you can blame the store.

End-caps and mid-aisle stands like that come prepackaged with the product straight from the manufacturer. Someone in the store replaced the 360 controllers with PS3 controllers.

This wasn't some kind of "dumb mistake" someone made, it was intentional.

End-caps are also created by stores ad department or their contractors offsite. It's not always the manufacturer.

Sometimes display stands are re-used when original products are gone. Lord knows how many times I've stocked stuff on display units that has no relevancy to the product I'm stocking when I worked in grocery stores for over 17 years in the past.

It seems to be the case in this image. Store clerks are simply stocking Playstation controllers in empty Xbox360 display stands.

Perhaps they should start putting PS3s in 360 boxes to increase sales.

As a supervisor in retail, I can assure you that it may be potential employee ignorance of product, or an associate who flat out doesn't give a shit. I have an associate who works in my department that is essentially clueless about anything that doesn't exist in their own home. They wrongly price-labeled two of the same movie, the only difference being one was widescreen and the other fullscreen. While there was no difference in price, for inventory purposes, and should only one version be on the ad, it opens up the doors for a lot of mistakes and shrink. One movie may not make a difference on shrink, but that same repeated mistake compounds that error.

Whenever the store here closes up, I find a lot of product on the wrong shelf, the wrong hook, and sometimes even the wrong department. I've found close to $1000 in games, mp3 players, and computer parts all in the home theater part of my store, and none of them belong there. It comes down to an employee's willingness to do the job right, and whoever did this display either didn't care, or did this as a joke to be posted on the internet. Either way, said employee was probably reprimanded about it unless their boss found it funny enough to just laugh and tell them to do it properly.

lmao

and HD-DVD and Blu-Ray in reg DVD (ant-theft-nuclear proof) packaging to increase their sales too :p
