New X850XT with problems

I just installed a new X850XT running at stock speeds with no overclocking on my processor either. I get a lot of artifacts in CS:Source but the frame rates seem fine. I upgraded from a 6800GT and did cab cleaner and driver cleaner before installing the new card drivers. I wonder if it is defective, which would really suck. I don't know what else to try other than formatting the drives. Any ideas?

Just ran 3DMark05, no visual defects of any kind. CS is the only game that has the problem that I've noticed. I tried deleting steam, which claims to be almost 4 GB, then redownloading. However, I am suscpicious that it truely reinstalled because all of my video settings were saved after reinstall in the options menu. I don't know if they are artifacts per se, but more like graphical glitches on textures after about 30 seconds of running. Like pink checkers on the ground, or black and white checkered walls, etc. Very strange. Stupid question, how can I check the temps on my ATI card? I'n new to ATI....

P.S. Is there a digital vibrance setting for the radeon cards? I really liked that on the nVidia cards.

That purple checker box thing commolnly happens in Source games. All it is is because you probably changed AA or AF settings. To fix that, set all your settings in game BEFORE you play, then exit, then open the game again. That should fix the problem. It also gets that if you minimnize your window then maximize it. But a simple re-start of the game fixes it.

In short: Your video card is fine.

hmmmm...well that pink and black checkerboard is the source engine's "whoops something didn't work right" filler texture. I have an x850xt and periodically some player's sprays in CS:S will show up as that. But it doesn't happen very often for me.

Thanks for the link, didn't even know about that. I ended up reformatting anyway and it seemed to fix the problem. Thanks for the help!
